Thanks. I am up and running. The ipcc files I got from Roland last time still worked. I've gone with the MMS one again. I must say the fact that the phone automatically goes into tether mode each time I dock it (now that iTunes 8.2 beta has made the drivers available) was very annoying. I was expecting a more traditional phone as a modem approach where you would dial up rather than Windows just detecting it as a gateway device.

First impressions is that beta 4 feels more snappy to me than b3, google app is working again. Cellular data page is still broken.

There's a new ipcc that allows for simultaneous mms and tether, limnos put it together, once applied, you can configure multiple apn's on the phone in settings -> network -> cellular data network

mms or tether can then be set per apn, I haven't applied the ipcc yet, haven't been home since Thursday, but one of the other guys on the now no more dev group did, aparantly works great ;)

Fantastic! @limnos I dropped you a mail, will you please send me the file.

i sent you mine, i changed limnos' slightly to use the "iphone.vodacom.za" apn, his uses the "internet" apn, for some reason vodacom hasn't allowed him access to the iphone.vodacom.za apn....

Thanks got it. If anyone else wants it I have uploaded it here. If you have other carrier bundles I can upload them here as well.

iPhone as a modem in Windows works very well!

Quick update on using the phone as a modem in Windows Vista (tethering). I just tested it now and it does actually work very well. Switching tethering on and off under settings on the phone enables and disables the connection very quickly. After my first negative post about it I must actually admit this definitely is the easiest setup I have seen for using a phone as a modem. I recall much time wasted in the past on Sony Ericsson phones with their crummy connection software.

Iphone app...

anyone else experiencing trouble logging into mxit?

Every time I start the application I have to enter all the required details(phone number, pin, location, code) and when I try to log in the app keeps crashing back to the springboard.

Rebooting my phone atm.

Can't find EDGE settings

Hi all

I'm trying to set up Edge on my Virgin account, but when I go to settings - general - network, I cant find anything about EDGE. All it has is 3G, Cellular Data Network, Data Roaming (ON or OFF), VPN, and Wi-Fi.

ANyone know what to do?

Cellular Data Network is what you're looking for.

Change the APN to the Virgin Mobile APN (I think it's "internet" or "vdata")

Thanks for that. Found it now. (But how do I know if it's working? I don't see the edge symbol, but maybe that's because i'm at home and it's connected to my wireless setup?)

Yeah that could be it. Try turning off your Wi-Fi and then seeing. It could also be that you are in an area with no EDGE coverage, in which case a small circle will appear to indicate GPRS connectivity (slower connectivity)

i downloaded the 3.0 firmware from http://mahmood1.com/iPhone_OS_3.aspx
however it comes in 3 parts....how do i unzip them?
if i try unzipping to the same folder, it says that it will overwrite the file as a file with the same name exists....
??

right click the one part and click extract. it will automatically unzip the rest using the other parts (it would not extract properly if you didnt have the other parts)

so no need to extract each part

keeping two iphone store apps synced

Hi Guys, need some advice. I have some old Paid for S.A.store apps and a heap of American apps. If I download the one lot, the other deletes or refuses to sync. Any thread on how to overcome this problem.

I remember being able to run both in the past ?

Thanks

Andre
