Just installed PDANet (while waiting for VC to get their a**es into gear and give us a proper config file) and it works fine with OS3.0.

Guys, just updated to 3.0 (via Itunes) and now thinking of jailbreaking.

But I saw an earlier post saying that you shouldn't jailbreak after an Itunes upgrade...

Should I restore to 3.0 (donwloaded from iClarified) and then jailbreak??

Don't worry about anything, just download Redsn0w and follow the instructions.

P.S. When prompted for the IPSW file, just point to:
XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\*USERNAME*\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

Vista:
C:\Users\**USERNAME**\AppData\Local\Apple\Apple Software Update

let's wake vodacom up...

hi folks

i've posted a report on hellopeter regarding the tethering and mms support for iphone on vodacom, and I'm hoping vodacom will wake up to it, but the more similar complaints there are, the more likely we are to see a response

http://www.hellopeter.com/comment_redirect.php?id=292258

that's the report, I'd like to urge the rest of the guys on here to do the same, perhaps enough voices will force a reaction out of them...

Ya I agree with you. Its like they where running out of time and someone forgot to put the text back..

The txt used to read "sms", which is no longer what the app does, well, it's not all the app does, it's now mms/sms... and "messaging" wouldn't fit in the bubble...

i do agree that the swirrlyv2 double bubble would've looked better though, but the current icon doesn't bother me

ok, got tired of cydia crashing so i restored again.
now i'm faced with another problem - cydia downloads apps fine, but when it gets time to install them i get "error: couldnt configure pre-depend dpkg for grep, probably a dependency cycle"
no idea what the hell's going on.
so now, whenever i try to install something it downloads the package but it doesnt install anything and gives me that error. all the downloaded packages seem to still be in the phone because they don't need to be downloaded again, but they just wont install.
annoying.
any ideas?

EDIT:
seems "grep" is one of the packages that it's trying to install.
how do you manually install packages without cydia?

EDIT #2:
screw it, im restoring again.

Im also getting instability with Cydia today - can't refresh the Changes screen then it crashes back to the springboard

redsnow 0.7.2
cydia hates me lately.
last reboot, if it's still stuffed then i'm restoring again.

has anyone actually seen/used/downloaded any push enabled apps??

i'm looking for im+ 3.1, or meebo, nowhere to be found apparently... lots of promises and then they just disappeared off the face of the earth?

Strange I had no problems whatsoever, but I used redsn0w 0.7, the command line utility, but maybe its something with cydia today, have not checked anything on cydia today, so dont know if there is a problem on cydia itself

Maybe this is one for the new Vodacom MyBB representative?
Just a thought before going the 'irate customer' route (I know you were up for 72 hours trying to crack it so in your case 'irate' is prolly justified!)

Roland, I've just installed this Push app: http://stuff.techwhack.com/6797-ap-mobile-3

But I don't see the option to enable/disable push under settings :(
(apparently the option should show up when you have push apps installed)

[UPDATE] Just saw this comment on a forum regarding the AP News app. I just installed:
"No push unless you select US as your main region....oh well, Delete! "

The biggest list of PUSH apps. I could find so far:

what's the diffs between 0.7.2 and 0.7.1? i used 0.7.1?

dunno, used 0.7.0 and then downloaded 0.7.2 today, so i dont know what 0.7.1 is like.
0.7.2 has a graphic interface, so no need to drag the firmware to 0.7.0 etc. and the jailbreak seemed quicker on 0.7.2 than 0.7.0.

yes, well, vodacom's refusal to even acknowledge the existence of 3.0 or it's new features is really starting to irk me....

Only difference between 0.7 and 0.71 is that 0.71 has a gui where 0.7 is just command line. But I have no idea what is so special about 0.72, but with your experience with it, it seems like nothing good
