nope, there's some other core utility mucking up as well, i had apps disappearing all over the place from the springboard, but that was after trying to run aptbackup restore, won't do that again.... lol

damn, last time this many restores happened was with 2.0 ...

damn this device we love so much :(

+100

phew i fixed it.. thx to DiskAid

in the /usr/libexec folder had to rename the installd.bak to installd...

my orig installd seems to have disappeared.

DO NOT UPDATE INSTALLD IN CYDIA

sure they'll fix it soon enough..

umm.. like the mobileinstallation of 3.0 :o

aka appulo.us apps..yno..

lol, nope, dunno, either way, 0.7.1 jailbreak worked for me, just ran all the cydia updates... wonder if i'm brave enough to run aptbackup again to restore my old stuff, what u think?

depends how much stuff you had..

i wouldn't risk it tbh.. sick of restoring..

to answer your confusion. it a patched file that allows the install of cr4cked apps (.ipa's) from sites like appulo.us

..at least we both sorted.. think im gonna sleep now :p

I have had no issues with my 3G JB to 3.0. The things I used, which weren't many, work fine. Used redsn0w 0.7.1 - but any of the versions would have been fine. there was a problem with a SBSettings update as per bigboss' web page which maybe caused some of the issues above, he has a fix, and a new version. Just check his blog if you still stuck.
I do have some small issues with Cydia but sure they will be fixed, eg Queuing apps doesnt work, avoid. More info on those here: http://yokoipa.blog.hr/ post on 21.06.2009

Yes, yes tethering so I apologise for bringing it up - but we know how quick VC will be for us (VC call center told me to phone Apple yesterday, riiiiiight) - I know this has been talked about over and over on MyBB but just thought I'd see if anyone had tried the tethering option from here : http://justanotheriphoneblog.com/wo...mple-hack-to-enable-tethering-on-iphone-os-30 - which links through to http://help.benm.at/help.php
Sorry if it was mentioned before but I waded back in the posts and couldn't see this attempt.
Q: Can you delete the mobileconfig if you find that it doesn't work and other things go wrong?

@Fxit & Theron - I had some Cydia problems yesterday but after the fix last night *all* is well again. I have had no issues at all - even put a appulous app on last night via iTunes and it works fine.

I have never used AptBackup so thats probably yr problem as you said - also, I installed AppSync for OS3.0 which is the replacement for mobileinstallation - they had a warning that you should not use the 2.X mobileinstallation file under 3.0.
I used PwnageTool for OSX to jailbreak.

I read on hackulous's site that mobileinstallation patch for 3.0 = Appsync 3.0

Installed that app and its working 100%

I detest aptbackup, that thing has brought me nothing but tears, I see in the cydia store that now have a pkgbackup, trying to figure out from the comments what this thing does, as you have to pay for it.

I used isafecopy to backup everything, but guess what!!!! iSafecopy, does not connect to iphone 3.0, but luckily, with the backup, I exported a list of my repos and a list of the apps, so it was easy to get it all back

Impressive I have to say, now the million dollar question, is it worth it to get mobileme at $100 per year? There should really be something to it (well something that I am missing anyways)

I'm referring to Battery Percentage indicator, not numeric battery..

Numeric battery before was just numbers, have they now changed it to percentage? If so, why don't they bloody label the thing that way!!!

Yes, i think it has probably changed, as mine does show percentage, but Numeric Battery is on
Weird damn Americans

Let me put it this way, I have *never* worried about backing up contacts or calendars as every time I upgrade the firmware and jailbreak using the clean restore function, all my contacts including contact pictures are back on the phone within a few minutes. Updating a contact (Including contact pictures) on either the phone or the MobileMe site is synced immediately. There is however no noticeable usage of my data bundle. Their mail app works 100% with the push function (which is no big deal). You can also set up mail aliases e.g. I have adsl3g (at) me.com for when I subscribe to forums and such.

It has a brilliant gallery which is easily updated via the iPhone through mail. iDisk is not such a great feature due to our bandwidth problems locally but it works - can even link to it through your network connections on Windows or just mout it as a disk on the Mac.

I will review the use of the facility again when I am due to renew in December.

EDIT: Forgot to add - the bookmarks sync between my iPhone, iMac and Macbook is also brilliant and it syncs the calendars and contacts on all 3 devices as well in the background

...wondering if it couldn't be something aptbackup does, something it leaves in the backup that restores to the phone and affects cydia....

i also used appBackup, and everything is screwed. Have 2 cydia packages that cant install at all. Keeps giving errors (cant overwrite som file, will give exact details later)
Think I should also do a restore WITHOUT aptbackup
Would it be possible (as iTunes syncs appBackup's data)

i made this mistake too!!! DAMN YOU CYDIA

Ok, I'm trying to jailbreak using redsn0w but the 3.0 restore firmware I downloaded keeps showing up as a .zip file and now as a .ipsw so redsn0w doesn't actually recognize it.

Any ideas on what I can do would be really appreciated
