Maybe somebody already asked, but can a Ihone bought in the USA and AT+T locked be used in SA. If no, can it be unlocked? The reason I'm asking is at Ebay they action the 3gS for less than 5K. Where is the catch?

There's no official jailbreak yet for the 3GS therefore there is no way you can get ultrasn0w (the unlock) to work.

Yes I am, among a host of other issues, I am really fed with OS3, it feels like a downgrade rather than a upgrade.

My wifi takes like 5 mins to connect. I leave mine on at work and every now and then check my mail, but as I said it takes about 5 mins for it to reconnect. Really annoying. It used to re connect pretty much immediately. I really hope Apple releases a fix for OS3 soon else I am going back to 2.2.1, when I used to actually enjoy my phone.

You seem to be having major issues with the phone - maybe a restore will sort it out - as said in other threads - I don't have performance issues and I have WiFi on all the time at home - it connects after about 1sec after I take it out of standby.

Yeah I think you right, I am giong to do a restore tonight and see if that solves it

Are all the versions the same? What I mean are the base files the same and only the maps different?

My battery was also giving me shyte after installing a few push apps, and draining quickly. I did a restore over the weekend, and now its 100% even with the push apps enabled

But i did a clean restore less than a week ago... think its time to upgrade this 2g..... cmon 3GS

Yes, you can get any version, then just change to the SA map.

Firstly, despite limnos comment of not being able to unlock it yet,
1. It COULD be auction price, and not cash sale (which means seconds before auction ends, prices skyrocket)
2. BEWARE, some people sell fakes, i read on xsellize that there is a 100% replica, icons the works. Only once you start using the phone that you realize it is a fong-kong. Only buy from Reputable sellers IF you go that route

I have the same problem. 3 IPA's said that it wasn't a valid app and 2 started installing but gave an "unknown error" at the end.

Why don't you just use Installous to install IPA's?

Yup, the phone is 2 years old, maybe apple wants us to upgrade.. :erm:

Why don't you just use Installous to install IPA's?

On 2.2.1 the way was via SSH and mobileinstalation replacement, there is a new and easier route (no more SSH required) just a Jailbreak, and Cydia then some other steps, which if I don't know if I can post here

Have you guys got AppSync for OS3.0 (Previously MobileInstallation) installed? iTunes won't sync h*cked apps without that - its available on Cydia. I d/loaded the greece one - its smaller than the others.

Yes have AppSync installed, and currently downloading the Greece version I suspect my other download got corrupted on the way My error was before even synching, when I dragged and dropped to iTunes I got the error.

ok, new problem.
my internet on my iphone isnt working at all after installing xgps.
tried both "internet" and iphone.vodacom.net for data APN and rebooted after each try.
i really dont want to have to restore again!

Am I the only one not having problems?? Not complaining though
