My tethering works fine, I'm actually posting this message with my iPhone set up as the network for local and internet (Windows Vista). Works really well and speeds are not bad.

I'm getting 2.2Mbps with a crappy signal.

I've used the 3.1 release as an excuse to do a fresh install, so far so good. Had a brief go at the home screen editor in iTunes it's ok I think the interface can use some tweaking.

Did you do a clean install or just upgrade? Did you have a custom profile on 3.0.1 for mms and tethering?

custom ipcc profiles no longer work on 3.1, the vodacom settings are built into the supported carrier settings on the firmware, mms and tethering are enabled out of the box

Well then I'm not sure what I did wrong, but I checked for the tethering settings directly after it booted for the first time and there was no option anymore. Only MMS.

I went straight from 3.0 to 3.1 via iTunes update, wasn't gonna waste 241MB for one security patch. :)

I had MMS enabled on my 3.0 iPhone, did not delete the settings when I updated it to 3.1 and MMS and Tethering are showing up on the general settings > network now.

Here is the MD5 for 3G - 52af8da5471daf48532031e751501f03

Thanks.

And where would I put the file that I am currently downloading? I assume that it will go into one of the ITunes subdirectories and then when I connect my iPhone up it will do the update thingy.

Just where do I put it without doing a bunch of trawling?

mmm, well mms and tethering worked 100% in 3.0.1, after 3.1 tethering option disappeared.

Any suggestions? maybe I should restore back to 3.0.1, remove the ipcc profile and then upgrade again...

You can put it anywhere - just hold 'shift' key and click update - then browse to the file.

Ok did a restore to factory 3.1

Tethering is there.

Now just need to restore my backup.....

I did a fresh install and did not restore from backup. MMS and tethering are enabled.

So anyone with a MTN sim try this? Is MMS and Tethering on by default on for MTN on 3.1? Or will it go down to converting the vodacom carrier bundle to an MTN one?

be careful

carrier bundles supposedly no longer supported

and no, unsupported carrier, therefore no built in config

Very interesting, think I'll hold back till most of the *bugs* are sorted, and the JB works 100%

Visit help.benm.at on your iphone, create a custom profile and then bam!

Works for me although not sure if it will work for 3.1.
