can you say egg on face?

info from clicking "update" in itunes, itunes says "3.1 available..."

http://www.funkyspacemonkey.com/iphone-os-31-released-september-18th

Where is the 'Update' button in iTunes?! How do I click on it?!? .....

I did a fresh install and did not restore from backup. MMS and tethering are enabled.

Good to hear that MMS and tethering is available out the box. I'll be one of those waiting for the jailbreak to be released. Cannot do without SSH if I choose to do a fresh install and set permissions.

I also read somewhere that Apple have patched the DRM, probably causing AppSync 3 not to work...

So while I wait - let me know how 3.1 goes (battery, stability, 3G reception etc....)

Busy backing up my phone now, have backed up via iTunes, and now doing a SSH backup. Any idea when the jailbreak will be released? and once again I have a Vodacom 3G phone, no network lock, should I upgrade now... or wait? :) I so much want the tethering and MMS :) but also don't want to loose Cydia (just yet)

i say update, but only cos I want to hear what difference it makes :P

But seriously, I would wait for the jailbreak, shouldnt be to long...

hahaha. hey atleast I tried. Read on BigBoss that it does nothing for battery life and speeds. Maybe he is just bummed cos he has to wait for a jailbreak :P

I have updated - definitely a bit nippier but could be the lack of jailbroken apps causing the speedier response. Have not had any problems - MMS & Tethering working fine although a bit slow to send MMS if 3G is on - no probs in receiving MMS with 3G on.
Cant say anything about battery life though - iPhone was connected to my PC / Macbook about the whole day.
I don't have any push apps so can't comment on those.

I see iTunes 9 now supports Proxy Authentication, came just in time seeing as we now use it at work :)

Really enjoying the home sharing on iTunes 9 between my Macbook & iMac.... - you can just import all the music/videos/apps from one to the other if they not on both machines.

I can definitely confirm that OS 3.1 on my iPhone 3G is very nippy! Just love it. :)

So now that we've got tethering and MMS sorted, what's next?

*Oh, and my Safari browser also feels zippy. So cool to listen to music and surf on the net at the same time. ;)

Im so tempted to upgrade to 3.1 now, but I want to be able to jailbreak. As for iTunes...downloading it now...

Last thing I need to do is to let my iPhone's battery completely drain, cos I've had it plugged into my laptop and battery life with USB charging is horrible. You need AC mains. :)

So cant give you feedback wrt battery life with OS 3.1 yet, but will soon.
