The kindle rotation inhibitor or screen lock is brilliant, Apple should copy this into their apps like safari.

I use stanza, it also has the rotation inhibitor and it can read MS LIt files - I have hundreds of LIT novels. And its free aswell.
I just uninstalled iREALSMS (what a crap app) and installed biteSMS 4.2. It seems to work much better, for one it removes the badge from the icon after i read the sms, which iREALSMS didnt do...

I have been using stanza since it's been released, it is great but since I finished all my books with it I gave kindle a shot and love it, whispersync is sweet.
I will definitely look into it - just want to finish my James Patterson novels. Can U use kindle with other formats as well and does it sync with USB or must it be wireless..

The Kindle App syncs with the books bought from amazon with your amazon account, so it's only kindle books.
The samples are great, you get to read the first chapter of any book and Amazon also have free books you can download.
Just create an amazon account and you're set.
Have you found a way to actually buy books from the Kindle store? I've tried the gift certificate route and that didn't work
Hmmm, I did that but it says its unable to deliver to this country wirelessly.

Maybe it's because the account I have is a US account, I registered it with my myUS address, when I purchase gadgets etc. from Amazon they ship to SA for me.
Creating a US Amazon account is as easy as creating a US iTunes account.
If you have a US iTunes account then try and create an amazon account with the same details.
