if you ask me I think it is better to have this thread than a section! I would rather read through 3 pages a day than 10 threads....

Plus this is such a great little thread with people asking questions where if a thread was made it might not be seen by all of us.

Guys... what do you think I can get for my 2G iphone. It is not in the best condition anymore, has a few bumps and scratches, and part of the screen is cracked next to the home button. It is COMPLETELY off screen and doesnt affect anything. Stil works 100%

Cases are cool if I find one with a cool design like those, but if not I might go with InvisibleShield.



my mates have the speck candy cases and to be honest I don't see the real craze.

It's hard to push the power/sleep button because if the rubber bit, and even though the case is a lot less bulky than others, it still feels rather big and bulky in my hand with the case on.

Looks like they've sorted that issue. Bought a Candyshell when I got my phone and was happy with it, but then they released the black with dark grey rubber one so I got me one of those today. Straight out of the box the power button is a LOT easier to use. No effort at all.
 
Argh I cannot jailbreak using Blackra!n (3.1.2) ! ! !

It gets stuck on the recovery mode...

  • if this does not work, close itunes, leave blackra1n running, reset the phone by holding power + home untill apple logo appears, blackra1n will now claim to be finished, it's not, without disconnecting the phone, run blackra1n again, and click on maike it ra1n, this time when blackra1n says it's finished it actually is
  • Some users claim that using different usb ports work, so cycle through your available ports, also, avoid usb extention cables and use the original iphone usb cable (thnx rsi_boy & wesleyfraser for confirming)
  • Disable your antivirus (thnx rsi_boy)
  • open task manager, under tasks kill ituneshelper, under services kill ipod service, rerun blackra1n

which version firmware is pre loaded on the new stock 3GS 16GB , if possible also , check if it has the new bootloader

I'm not sure if that's directed at me but if so, I have the 8gig 3G running 3.1.2 and the baseband thingy is 5.something but I'm not looking to unlock it just jailbreak...

geohot is working on a second blackra1n release, just hang in there, or just keep trying, it's hit or miss really, there's no sure way to make it work, it will randomly just work at some point

I'm gonna try that pwnage thing on my hackintosh....

I'm downloading the 3.1.2 ipsw, is that all it needs?

yup

guaranteed to work that one b.t.w., just backup your phone in itunes before the whole process so you don't loose anything, requires a restore
 
So I used the pwnage and it worked yay!

I have Cydia now and also Icy, is this bad cause I read that icy was screwed up?
 
Where is everyone in this thread??!?!?

So does the find my iphone thing only work with a mobile me account which you have to buy? Are there any other security alternatives for if your iphone gets stolen?
