Tanks, I just tried rapid8, download speed at 50KB (im on 4MB line) :( sucks...

UPDATE: OMG... download just restarted again, it was at 50%, ffs! rapidshare without an account = FAIL

Strange, I got it down at a steady 126KB/s from Rapidshare (via my WebAfrica Trial account)

doing it now :) DLing it from rapidshare quick (7 min remaining @ 150kb/s only because of other torrents)

then I will split + upload to mediafire

cool - dont forget the info.plist file as well - also on the xellize thread.

What's New:
- Fixed 3G issues
- Tethered jailbreak for 3.1 OOTB ipt 8GB and new 3GSes
- Fixed Icy issues
- Both Windows and Mac
- If you used RC1 with success, no need to rerun

www.blackra1n.com

I've been without a jailbreak and desperate for cydia but still not comfortable with geohot or his app... too many issues for 3G users.

Ok so I thought i'd mention some cool apps i've come across lately:

Cydia:

Orbit - Although i probably wouldn't use this on a regular basis, it is cool :) Basically allows you to switch between springboard pages via a thumbnail of each springboard page.

YourTube - Allows you to download YouTube vids for watching later. Can select HQ or lower quality. Integrates into the default youtube app. Very nice!

QuickReply - I know most of you know about this already, but it allows you to reply to a message while you are in any app. Even the lock screen! Even shows the bubbles convo like the SMS.app. Basically is the SMS.app with a transparent background so you can still stay in your current app. Very neat.

CategoriesSB - Will copy paste from AIS as it explains it better :)
"CategoriesSB is an application that integrates Categories into the SpringBoard. This is done by loading the folders you create using Categories directly on the SpringBoard instead of loading them as a separate app. What this basically does is allows the folders that you create with Categories to load much faster. This also allows for things like badge support since the folder is directly on the SpringBoard.

You will still need to use the actual Categories application to create, edit, delete and rearrange the applications in the folders you create. You can get CategoriesSB via the BigBoss source."

Universal Search - Integrates with the default spotlight search on the iPhone and allows you to search a number of sites such as google, wikipedia and dictionary. Very nifty!

All these apps are available from Cydia and are not free ;)

Appstore:

iGOG Massive Drums - Basically allows you to "velocity" drum.. Uses the microphone to determine how hard you hit the iPhone and changes the drum intensity accordingly.. Pretty cool to mess around with :) Not free. Doesn't work on my own iPhone though for some reason..

Other:

How to Auto Install a DEB File Using Cydia - very cool :) reboot once + respring and .deb files are installed for you

You guys should post similar reviews every now and again because there are so many apps available nowadays and it's getting harder to pick out the awesome ones :)

fxit, is YourTube and MxTube not basically the same thing? Except that MxTube is free?

And with quickreply, I prefer Tlert as it shows contact photos as well and its non obtrusive

I would also like to add lockinfo to your list, available on Cydia.

come on, it's true, the info is plastered all over

I hear you pal.

You do a ****eload of work for this thread and you have personally helped me out in the past - with no compensation all you ask is that people not ask questions that they could easily answer if they took a minute to try and find out for themselves... Very reasonable in my book.

Thanks will check it out!

Yeah MXTube is the same. Used it in the past, but prefer the integration of YourTube with the YouTube app.. Although as you said, it isn't free (well not supposed to be.. :p)

Will try Tlert and lockinfo out. Thanks

Go ahead and use. I tested and it works 100% first time on my 3G. He has fixed all the issues with the 3G in this release.

With Tlert you can also check out Elert, its for emails, its also non obtrusive....unfortunately both of the apps are not free (well to the uninformed its not free).

Lockinfo is free for now and a lot better that intelliscreen as it supports plugins

Thanks man! Don't really use email on the iPhone. lol @ "uninformed" ;)

@fanix - uploading to mediafire. should be between 45min - 1hour.

Yip, the reason I prefer tlert is that it integrates with the default messages app, so there is nothing else loading into memory. When a new message arrives, you get a speech bubble on screen with the contacts picture (if available), and the message, then you can either tap the message and immediately on screen a speech bubble appears and you type in your reply, or you can tap and hold to phone the originator of the message

Awesome. QuickReply also integrates with the SMS app though. Very quick. Have you tried both? Will try Tlert out and give my comparison.

Navigon or Tom Tom? Which one do you rate?

Only installed navigon just now but it seems each have their own good sides.

Tomtom is really easy to navigate through menus. Nice interface layout. Voice seems clearer than navigon.

And navigon has a nice 3d view (nicer than tomtom IMO). Graphics seem smoother. Also rotates smoothly as you turn. Could not find certain POI's in navigon though from a quick search and these were main universities?

At this moment I'm still very slightly leaning towards tomtom though.

Would have to test them out on the same route but they both seem very good!

I have 4 nav apps in total now - sygic, ndrive, tomtom and navigon. And tomtom and navigon are definitely the leaders in overall user friendliness and useability.

But you should try them both out to see which one suits you better. I don't think you will be disappointed with either.

Nope have not, when that came out I used growl, and for some reason growl and that did not work so well together
