My iPhone is not picking up any WiFi signal ANYWHERE!
I have tried restoring, restoring network settings...everything!

What can I do?

Is your WiFi turned on? :p

Are we supposed to sniff what firmware you running, jailbroken or not, unlocked or not, whether you have ultrasn0w/blacksn0w installed?!? Help us so we can help you!

In cases like this, I would just do a clean fimware restore (to 3.1.2) without restoring an old backup.

Are you using blacksn0w, I am aware there is a fix for WiFi/GPS after installing blacksn0w...

Since Blackra1n and BlackSn0w is out, our email inbox was full of messages from you guys. All of you either had problems with the WiFi or GPS or YouTube ( or all of them at once ) after unlocking the iPhone with BlackSn0w.
There is an easy fix for all of this. All you have to do is to go to Settings>General>Reset> and hit Reset Network Settings. After reseting the network settings, you need to do a hard reboot. Hold down the home button and the sleep/power button , and then slide the on-screen power toggle

To log off you just press the home key.

Yeah you can minimize. Go into Cydia and look for an app called Backgrounder, that's what you need.

Hi guys

Thinking of updating my software on my iPhone 3G 8gb. It is currently jailbroken on 3.0.1

Just wanna make sure I've got the correct procedure.
I first backup my phone in itunes then update normally to 3.1.2
Then download and run Blackra1n, Install Cydia
and everything should be cool...?

Will all my contacts sms's etc be fine? Also don't suppose it will keep cracked app data...

Lastly is it worth upgrading, I heard there was a performance boost too, is that true?

Thanks

I dunno if this will be applicable to your situation but check this out and see if is: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2158541&start=0&tstart=30 sounds like some isolated firmware wifi issue from what I can tell.

Hows this for supreme irony;

I had the exact same problem happen to me a second after reading this post in the thread!!

Took alot of reading but here's the solution;
This is assuming that you Wifi option under settings is greyed out and shows "no wifi"

1. If you have a local phone under warranty, take it back and get it replaced. This is the best solution.

2. If the phone is an import, with no warranty, turn it off and
put it in the freezer (i'm not joking!!) for about 15 mins.
Take it out and switch on and check if wifi is working.
If the wifi option is back under settings, but still refuses to find a connection, keep the phone on, connect to itunes and do a restore then a jailbreak.

The wifi will be working after this.
Mines bombed out again, but after a second "freeze" it now works perfectly again.
Obviously its a timebomb but my upgrade is due at the end of the month so it can hold me over till my 3gs arrives.

My phone:
16gb Iphone 3g
F/W: 3.0
JB
Ultrasn0w

sim card holder, anyone broken theirs and had them replaced?

Hi everyone

Tried to install a data only sim card in my fiancee's 3g last night, and DOH!!! I inserted the sim holder the wrong way:o

So, tried to get it out, but it broke off, now I have pieces of the 10 inch holder and a very sulky fiancee who now "only" has an ipod touch...

So, can Voda(s)care sort me out? Got the phone May this year....
How long will it take to fix?
How much (if anything ?) will this cost me? Besides some of my dignity;)

Thanks for your help in advance....

Vodacom may help you but will want you to pay for it, which could be pricey, but worth a check. You could try get hold of this person (you may need to ask on one of their other auctions) and see if they can still source them : http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/15109440/iPhone_3G_SIM_tray_black.html. There may be other places that do repairs (guessing) that could also source it for you.

Does anyone know what the packages in SinfilIphonerepo "Internet Tethering" are for?

Will it be possible to use Internet Tethering on MTN with that installed?

SUCCESS! How to enable Internet Tethering!!

This will work on MTN and Vodacom (unauthorized iPhone APN) - tested and working!

Just follow this tutorial to patch your CommCenter file.

Then go to this address on your MobileSafari to generate your own MobileConfig file to enable tethering. :)

If you with Vodacom and your number is registered to work with the iphone.vodacom.za APN you don't have to worry about this - internet tethering will just work.

I'm with Vodacom but I use the APN 'internet', the other one didn't work...

I don't see the point of tethering though because I have internet on my computer...
