Cant wait for 4.2 to come out on ipad, the lack of multitasking is killer...

Maybe but 4.2 GM is here which has native multitasking and multiple Exchange accounts. You can look around for the torrent or wait a week or two then it'll be here.

Personally my torrent has 3 hours left so I'll let you know when I've upgraded.

Have you got a developer to add your suid or whatever its called?

No you don't have to do that with the GM. Anyone can install it! You just need to perform a shift-restore or option-restore from iTunes, or use iTunes 10.1 beta. And for Airprint you need iTunes 10.1 beta apparently too.

Aaah!!! You making me jealous - should I download the GM?? No no no no... must... wait... for... official... release.... ughhhh!!!!

It's a much bigger deal for iPad than iPhone, because we're going from 3.2 to 4.2.

I read today that the GM release of 4.2 can be jail broken. Does this mean that the final release will also be vulnerable to limerain exploit?

Yes it should be. I just updated my iPad to 4.2. Its very nice. I've printed a page with AirPrint!

I was just about to load the 4.2 GM and i sold my ipad! Got a good offer couldn't refuse

Got the iphone4 to play with till the "new" ipad comes out :P

Schweeet!! Can't wait to try AirPrint. Actually had to upload a doc from Pages today using my iDisk to print it from my Mac - AirPrint is gonna be soooooo convenient :)

Dumbstruck?!

I am looking for the past week for an answer on the international forums but I know you guys with local knowledge are the only ones that can help me. So here it goes.

I’ve got a 3gs, Vodacom stock but MTN sim that was on 3.1.3 JB with spirit. I updated to 4.1 JB Limera1n, which updated the baseband to 05.14.02. Since the update to 4.1, I experience almost no 3G signal and could not send or receive sms’s and lost the MTN connection completely after reboot or halfway through the day unless I do a “reset network connection”. I decided to downgrade to 3.1.3, but as a result the baseband remain. The signal and sms is better but as soon as I JB with spirit, I loose the network as soon as I reboot the same as above happens.

Why is it that I cannot operate on 4.1 or 3.1.3 when I jailbreak? Surely it is not a unlock problem or is it? I know that the baseband 05.14.02 must wait for the snowbreeze 4.2 release unlock but is it because I am using MTN with the new baseband on the old 3gs that I need to unlock?

Thanks guys and sorry for lengthy question. Any comments or advice welcome!

it's not an unlock issue because you never installed nor needed an unlock

go to settings -> general -> network and enable cellular data roaming

also ensure your internet data settings are correct under settings ->general ->network -> cellular data network (compared to the first page)

if all else fails, do a complete restore to 4.1 (or upcoming 4.2) and run unjailbroken for a few days, see if you see the same problems, if yes, it's a fault with the device, i suspect this is more likely the actual problem than any soft issue, I'm assuming you've googled for users experiencing similar issues and you've not found any, meaning it's probably not an issue with any jailbreak

have you installed anything from cydia that could potentially mess with the mobile wireless management of the phone (ideliveryreport for example) - if you're not sure what i'm asking here please list all your cydia installed packages under cydia app: manage -> packages (also assuming you only have cydia on there to install apps from anywhere other than the app store)

Thank you roland! You might struck a cord with IDELIVERYREPORT app. It is the first app I install after JB. Why is that?
I am running 3.1.3 unjailbroken for a day now without any network problems BUT as soon as I reboot, I get no signal. I then have to "home and power button" reboot several times before getting signal again. Hardware failure maybe? Will JB again and just run as is, and report back.
