More and more awareness puts more pressure on police and government to actually solve the case.

Many murders go unsolved just because police incompetence. Now they have the best task force on it.

I don't watch/listen to any and am in no ways versed in the mind of a criminal. It just makes logical sense that he's getting these people to more secluded areas somehow - and the two most obvious answers were charm or chloroform.

No. This isn't a movie. Criminals in SA literally force people into their car at gun point. Chloroform is a movie thing, not real.

He isn't charming them he is using/threatening violence.
