Edit: But yes, they only reported on it today, and it may be connected to the other deceased. This whole scenario is so messed up...

But remember, one or more of the victims' bodies were out for a while already because they were decomposing. So the fact that this is from 7 Sept does not mean it cannot also be related.

Re-reading this, it might be another from today. EWN's article references the 5th victim (the runner found in Olifantsfontein) having been found yesterday, and we know the 6th (Springs) was found this morning. Either yet another was found today, or (seemingly more likely) the journalists don't know WTF they're typing.

I'd tend towards thinking IOL and EWN jumped the gun and got it wrong in a race to be "first" with breaking the news.
News24 seems to corroborate the Citizen article that it was a body previously found that is being linked now.

Or deliberate in their wording. It's all about the clicks
 
I used multiple LLMs with the instruction to note the date each body was found, the date it was reported, and provide at least 3 sources for each.

My conclusion is that today it was announced that 7 September's victim was included as being part of the same investigation, so the full chronological story is:

Victim #1 through #4 remain as is
Victim #5 becomes #6, and #6 become #7
A victim previously thought to be unrelated was today announced to be #5.

It's poor reporting - #7 is actually #5, but was only included in the investigation today.
