The Kempton Park Serial Killer thread

Bad grammar aside, being in possession of property of the deceased is pretty damning.
True... but probably still just a lead.

It happened with that Tokai killing, a guy purchased a phone from some kids, he got arrested for being in possession of the stolen phone, then was able to lead the police to the guys who stole the phone... who were the actual killers.

So this suspect is either the killer or can lead us to the killer.

Fingers crossed !

But you see, here's the thing. People who believe that farm attacks should be a special category of crime are clearly happy with some crimes being treated differently to others. Such people should surely have no problem with other crimes having their own category too, like GBV.

However this doesn't seem to be the case. I get the impression that a lot of people who reeee about GBV, believe that farm attacks should be treated differently.
The problem is that South African elite treats the two differently. Including the Constitutional court, the media and the ANC led government.

Singing "Kill the woman, kill the b!tch" outside a courtroom where a woman has been brutally murdered would likely get condemnation from every corner of society, and would likely get you sent to prison.

Wheras when it is a farmer (like Brendan Horner) who has been brutally murdered, the EFF can sing "kill the Boer, kill the farmer" outside the courthouse where his murderers are sitting and get a ringing endorsement from the Constitutional court.

And the problem is that this has a historical origin. If you go and read the history, the ANC literally had a campaign where they wanted to drive farmers off their land.

There wouldn't be a problem with farm murders if the SA government treated them as seriously as normal murders in the first place. And sadly, that wasn't even always the case with the ANC. Until Mbeki and his paranoia got into power, they actually had a pretty good plan on how to deal with it.

You just have to look at what Mandela said:
One example is the low level of participation in the commando system. I am therefore giving instructions to the Minister of Defence to immediately investigate mechanisms to ensure maximum participation in the commando system not only by members of the farmers organisations, but also farm workers and dwellers as well as the community in general. I urge organised labour in the Congress of South African Trade Unions, National Council of Trade Unions, the Federation of South African Unions and other unaffiliated organisations to co-operate with the Minister in this regard.

Literally that is all you would need to do to fix the problem once and for all. Re-establish it, ensure it has proper oversight by the police, ensure private security and farm workers are a part of it and you would have no problems ever again with farm murders.

If "kill the woman, kill the bitch" was some sort of struggle song, your point might be valid. But it's not.

Julius' song sucks, but the amount of weight people give it is ridiculous, which is why I often ask who's singing the songs about blowing up CIT vans, or shooting tavern patrons.

The best way to make rural areas safer is to reduce crime overall, and that should be the focus. If Ernst, for example, ran off to orange man to create more awareness of crime levels overall, he'd have much more support. Instead, he creates division and further polarisation, which actually makes things worse.

The song sucks because the lyrics are so repetitive and totally lacking any general imagination, but I suppose if there were more than a few different lines the choir would be all confused and the general melodic tone of the song would be awful.

They should just replace it with this: 😍
