The longest you've ever gone without sleeping?

I think it was 2 1/2 days so roughly 60 hours ....man I was totally bombed out after that. I think my kidney or something didn't like what I was doing to my body so I kinda turned a pale green. Got scared ****less so slept for about a day to recoup. Never again!!!!

Longest was a long-weekend lan. I would say about 2-2.5 days. Diablo 2 rocked back then. We finished it twice. I'm not doing that in a hurry again.

I think it was 27 hours or something like thatI woke up at 6am the one Friday morning then that night for youth we had a stay awake till 7am or 8am the next morning

my longest time awake was last year. 130 students left on for an art tour to egypt and europe. i woke at 8am that morning, stayed awake the whole day, flight was at 8pm. got on flight (too excited to sleep cause i'd never been overseas) and landed in egypt at 5am. didnt manage to sleep and then we hit the pyramids at 6:30am... went through that whole day in the desert and finaly slept at about 11pm that night. thats 39 hours... ok so its not so impressive... but it felt *** okay!!!

3 days. Got sick the 2nd day (had to get a drip to set me straight) and fell asleep right next to a live band (right infront of the drums) on the evening of the 3rd day. :D

Will never do it again, but never slept as good as I did that 3rd night.

moi - ... always sleeping, why stay awake... zZzZzZz... this typing is the cat running across my keyboard!

This year when I went down to the Cape from the Highveld to compete in the Argus. I woke up the Thursday morning at about 06:00 (My normal time). That night at about 22:00 I drove down to Cape Town, arrived there at about 13:00 on Friday and only went to bed at 23:00 that evening. That means I have gone without sleep for 41 hours!
/me places geezers thread here

38 hours.

I'm useless at this kinda game, I really am - I need my sleep and when I'm tired, I can sleep almost anywhere.

Those 38 hours are when I left the UK to hook up with my buddy in Germany, back in '93. It was terrible.

I spent a good 15 of those hours in various coach/bus/train stations.

It all culminated, on about the 34th hour, with me running into a clear reinforced glass door in a bar in Cologne, bruising my knees and splitting my lip in the process - that was after about 10 beers - I ran into the damn thing full tilt in the excitement of over-tiredness and being in Germany with my good buddy.

I did once have insomnia for about 2 months, but that doesn't really count - for pretty much the entire time, I slept about 3 hours a night. I started losing touch with reality at one point.

I've got a buddy who suffers from extreme insomnia and also drinks too much - he's totally whack. He can go 4 days without sleep, but you don't want to meet him when he's on a binge - scary stuff. Brilliant mind, but insane after his bouts with sleepless nights and days...

Going from SA to Sydney and staying awake the whole time. Get to Sydney and sleep for 36 hours. The Time zone thing fcucks you up.

Longest time awake

So for all the night owls out there... :)

My question is:

What is the longest time you have been awake? Without sleeping at all, no power naps, ect.

I'm going on hour 42 right now, woke up at on the 2nd of June at 8am and maybe thinking of watching a movie, before I'm off to bed. :p Not actually tired right now, as that has come and gone around around 14 hours ago.

Oh, the reason is I wrote a exam yesterday and haven't found a bed since then. :D

Longest I've been awake was around 47-48 hours. Maybe I should try and beat it, but need to study again tomorrow. :p

56, but never again. Haven't been able to regain my sleep patterns since.

I went quite a bit over 24 hours, but did not get to 48 I think. Few hours before 24 some of my major brain functions starts to deteriorate. After 24 hours some of them just plains shuts down!

I just cannot function like that ... without some help from my dear friend Coffee!

Back when I first got Civilization I around 1992.

Don't know how long was I awake for--it'was all pretty much a haze of end-turns, old takeaways and coffee that was way too strong. Only realized that almost two weeks passed when my friend called and asked what the hell I was doing missing classes.

Good times, but never again.

About 48 hours. But that was when I worked a night shift. I try not to do it because it does affect your sleep patterns.

33/34 hours without sleep, it happened twice in my life, once while I was still a student at Pretoria Technikon doing a group assignment and once working in 2007. I would do it again actually because it somehow made me more focus, but I did remember being very tired.

kiepie, just know that you will die from not sleeping quicker than without water.

take a nap at least man.

38 hours has been my longest. Out of nightshift and then tinkering on PC's.

Sleeping patterns are still erratic because of shifts.

Just finished night shifts yesterday morning. So battled to get myself to sleep last night. But the kind folks at the KWV distillery made provisions for my dillema :)
