The LONMIN share price thread

can we still buy shares in this beauty? :D

If you look at it purely from a numbers perspective most people bought at 29 cents which now equals R29 so you would getting it much lower than we did. But like others said mining is too risky at the moment.

They consolidated the shares. So you have less shares now but at a higher value per share.

Someone who actually has lonmin shares can explain it further...

*cracks fingers*

Right: I had 6000 shares and now I have 60 shares. So for every 100 shares, I now have 1 share. The price per share did the same. Each share is not worth 100 times more than it's previous worth.

Aka

13c share now costs 13c x 100 = R13

I'm not good with explaining things in simple means. Hope this is clear :p

Thanks, so those who bought at say 29c are more than 50% down? Ouch

Yep.

It's now worth R15,87 though. Going up steadily since last Friday.

currently trading this morning at R17.04

Something is happening in the background, I just don't know what. What else would explain the gradual increase over the past few days?

Rand Dollar is stable, Plat is stable, so I just dont get it.

The price is "low enough" for a new wave of speculators like yourself to get on the ride.

If you cashed out for a small loss like I suggested a week before the consolidation you could have bought again at the new low and recouped some of your losses.

That strat is pure speculation though.

At any given price of a security someone could think it is a good price to buy and a good price to sell.

Woop! I prefer gradual...it means it's stable :p

Well, plenty guys bought at the 20 - 22c level, so they still looking at a 15 - 20% loss - not great. That said, you never know - maybe it might recover somewhat. There have been other shares that got a hammering, then turned around. OML and Super Group in SA. Think it's pretty unlikely myself unless the platinum prices rises substantially, wage bill decreases and productively goes up. Debt kills.

R17,95 now if only it would go up until R30

This is still in relative terms 18cents per share (pre consolidation). will need to move up to R70 before decent profits is made ( it was there a few weeks ago!)

*sends of wish to my favourite santa* : D
