The LONMIN share price thread

Total share trading noob here. Some quick questions:

Why am I unable to buy Lonmin shares currently?
At what point will I be able to buy Lonmin shares again?
What is a "rights issue"?
What potential actions would make the share price rise in the short, medium and long term?

none.

All commodities are priced in US Dollars therefore weather it's Gold, Silver, Iron, Rhodium or Platinum they all go up or down together. Anglo American (AGL) the worlds 5th largest miner yesterday announced jobs cuts today their share price is down another 10%. AGL owns Amplats (AMS) the worlds largest Platinum Miner

So Anglo has dropped 73% this year.. ouch. No wonder they not paying dividends.

Ahhh.

Sweet thanks

I just want to say something regarding the 100-1 stock split.

You realize that right now the price has hovered around 20-23c what do you think will happen if the share price reaches R20-23 due to the split?

I would hazard a guess that the new consolidated price will drop like a brick - where now it is stable to at least limit your loss - think about it - it is hard for the stock to drop below one british penny but it is easier to drop from a quid.

Moral of the story cut your losses and dont speculate.

I've been thinking about this too...

"in for a penny, in for a pound"

Not really consolidation should theoretically make the volatility less and more attractive than penny stocks

Lonmin is not "Any" Share

Yes but my point was that you can't say anything with such certainty regarding the stock market like you have.

Tomorrow they employ a whole new management team because the CEO dies in a car crash tonight and then what?

not how it works - between 20 and 23c, there can only be 4 prices, i.e. 20, 21, 22, 23c
between R20 and R23, there can be 300 prices..... so bids and offers can be more finely tuned, resulting in more stability (less volatility)

Point taken

I don't suppose anyone knows how much money they have raised thus far just from share sales since 20 November?

To be honest, I'm hoping Anglo closes down their platinum production in SA, which should be good for Lonmin in the long run :p

Local platinum mines need to work together

They need to halt production so they can "artificially" raise the price
