The LONMIN share price thread

People have to eat. When I say people I say the masses.

Shoprite is a massive massive massive giant in this space and it's director will show mass mart a thing or two

I also have zero knowledge in that market, heck I don't even know which share shoprite is in?

A reasonable day but not all that great considering the losses of previous days. Dividends for SATRIX ETFs paid out so that's good. Extra money just appearing in my account gives me the giggles :o

you realise SHP is down 26% over the past 3 years?

I purchased in 2009 some shares are more than just the price.

Shoprite is a good company with a stunning leader.

Watch this space 10 years from today.

Whitey basson is not the kind of guy that's going to sit and watch his company desolve.

The recent pitfalls is with international food companies coming here mass mart.

And big chain stores also competing now most noticeable games food section and makro.

HOWEVER shoprite is for the masses and he will innovate again. Remember shoprite is an investment holding company whose combined subsidiaries constitute the largest fast moving consumer goods retail operation on the African continent.

Lonmin has grown in value for 5 consecutive days, going from an all time low of R8.21 increasing 67% and now sitting on R13.77

This is by far the most bizarre share I have ever had to misfortune of trading in as all predictions are utterly useless in the short term.

I can only imagine that this sudden spike in value won't last much longer, but then again it's been so unpredictable it might just turn around and continue growing.

I want to buy more so badly, just for the thrill of it. haha

But NO! I will refrain.

Unless... They reach R5

Well the share price is all over the place today, down 6% and then up 6% , driving me nuts!

a day trader going short and long is probably having a field day with this share

Was only two major up/down trends, after which the trade margin got very slim.

I have a feeling Lonmin will stagnate for today and probably move down come Monday.

Hopefully I'm wrong :D

Platinum is 0,54% up today as of right now lets see what lonmin does :P

Nope, Platinum is down 0.5%, Palladium is up almost 1% though

If I was a betting man (which I am) I'd start moving everything into Gold :D

Nope, and here's why:

1. Oil is back up above $33. Many investors will return to normal equities abroad again.
2. Gold companies in SA saw a decline of 8%+ the past 48 hours, due to above.
3. Gold price fell from $1118 to $1113 the past day and it is still going down.
4. Rand is strengthening against the Dollar and gold companies will earn less money.

These are a few things investors look at before moving into Gold.

Hmmm idk, coining it with Harmony, now if only SGL would pick up, then it will be an awesome day of trading for me :)

Yeah I made the call on Friday afternoon, bought into Harmony when they got to -9%, SGL @ -3%

Will also be selling once oil starts going in the positive direction, currently @ 35.82 which is a bit riskier at the moment.

After Friday losses and some more today I finally cut my losses with lonmin. Will buy more if it drops very low and starts sky rocketing again.

Also wrote everything off last week sometime, did manage to get back some of my earlier losses, but doubt I will plunge into the endless pit that is Lonmin again anytime soon :)
