Thanks for the help hawker... But iv uninstalled mint9 and gave Kubuntu a try, But that didnt show up in the grub boot menu so thats uninstalled as of now... Im not sure why thou. Min9 is easy enough to reinstall again. It has everything apart from the graphics drivers... All installations via Wubi.. I love it!

I wanted to play with KDE, pity. Windows 7 is still my main desktop so its no train smash.. I will try again.

Thanks :)

I've become rather disillusioned with Lucid. There are just too many bugs for an LTS release, especially if you're using older hardware. I've been promoting changing to Ubuntu, just for the speed up due to not having to have AV software installed, but I've gone back to 9.10 in two cases this past week.

1. Plymouth, especially with the startup and shutdown splash screens, is nowhere near ready for release. This is what the end user sees first and if it looks cr@p, it doesn't make a good impression.
2. Grub2 is a pain in the butt (although it is present in 9.10).
3. There are major flaws in some scripts, giving pages of errors at startup if you try and generate a new startup kernel with update-initramfs
4. Automounting USB flash drives does not work on computers with stiffy drives. You have to disable the stiffy in the BIOS. A pain for people still sitting with data on stiffies.
5. The thing that the people I've been trying to convert hate the most, are the min, max and close buttons on the left.
6. Envy gone...
7. Compiz going...
8. Nepomuk in Kubuntu (and I believe something similar is planned for Ubuntu with the next release)...
9. ...

For myself, I'm going to have a look at vanilla Debian soon...

Since my last update earlier this week, I've been having serious issues with my panels on bootup. They disappear, then I restart and they come back - but without the wireless app/connectivity (although the bluetooth still works perfectly).. then I reboot again and it's all back to normal.

Found this bug report but no progress... https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/581515
It seems like the same or at least very similar problem.

Anyone noticed this since the last update earlier this week?

EDIT: I have found that this is only a problem if I log on using my fingerprint reader. If I don't swipe properly, then put in my password rather than a matched fingerprint, Lucid loads perfectly every time. hmm, back to the drawing board...

I did have this with one install I did this weekend (I suppose I should have added it to my list). I could get the network icon back by changing to a really weird theme, such as High contrast print inverse, and then changing back to my chosen theme. The machine I'm working from at the mo doesn't suffer from this problem.

That's a bit more user friendly, I could never really wrap my head around that /etc/init.d/ stuff :p Maybe I'm just a bit slow :)

voip reseller

Lynx

you seem to know a lot about icasa regulations issues

I want to resell voip to a group of people living in SA & online sms's

My idea is to engage different resellers as they provide different pricing for different routes.
Icasa says i should obtain an ecs, but in some schools of thought, they say if am doing international termination I dont need an ecs as i am not breaking into the South Africa spectrum.

So who is right on this issue?

How easy is it to obtain an ecs?
