There are ways and means to do this, and being medical experts just makes this much easier.

There was evidence, as the article mentions in the flat and also the boot of the car. Just not enough to be certain.

Wow. So they killed her, got rid of the body, got all this money and years later are still spending it to try and find her.

Something wrong with this picture ?

If this was my daughter I would appreciate every photo that appeared in any media.

Many parents would have given up long ago.
Oh they've given up alright. Now, it's up to the frigging media to give it up!!!

I'm sure this does nothing more than raise false hope for the parents and open old wounds....

Ridiculous the amount of publicity this case gets/got years after the fact.

Bottom line Madeleine was most lightly dead within 72 hours of her disappearance..

In a court in Lisbon, the parents of Madeleine McCann heard from Portuguese detectives yesterday why their account of their daughter Madeleine being abducted during a holiday on the Algarve in 2007 was never believed by local police officers and why they were declared formal suspects - arguidos - in the investigation.

"She [Madeleine] died in the apartment as a result of a tragic accident and the parents simulated an abduction after failing to care for their children," Tavares de Almeida, a former chief inspector told the court. "These were the conclusions of a police report signed by me on September 10 2007."

Kate and Gerry McCann are in court to challenge the publication of a book, The Truth of The Lie, written by another Algarve detective, Goncalo Amaral, after he was sacked from the Madeleine investigation. Amaral also believes the couple covered up their daughter's death, knowing that they should never have left her alone while they dined with friends.

The book became a bestseller in Portugal when it was published in July 2008 but has been banned temporarily in Britain under a previous court order obtained by the McCanns

What they are trying to prevent is the ENGLISH TRANSLATION of the book

Under English law those statements are quite probably liabelous. And their bizarre laws in that regard make it quite easy to win a lot of money. If they were after money their best strategy would have been to allow publication, then go after the publisher and author.

Although this is a tragedy, what makes this particular kidnapping recieve so much media coverage compared to other kidnappings??

This one certainly is;-

"She [Madeleine] died in the apartment as a result of a tragic accident and the parents simulated an abduction after failing to care for their children,

Proof ? If there was they would be locked up by now. Speculation at best due to lack of any other explanation.

And the Portuguese were always at pains to negate the possibility that a local was responsible.

Missing white woman syndrome (MWWS) is a vernacular term for the disproportionately greater degree of coverage in television, radio, and print news reporting of a missing person case involving a young, attractive, middle or upper middle class white woman, compared with cases concerning a missing male, or missing persons of other races or classes.[1][2][3] The essential features of a missing person said to give rise to Missing White Woman Syndrome are sex,[4] race or ethnicity, social class, (relative) beauty, and age.

These dogs ?

The judge didn't allow the evidence in the Zapata case. Remember the Zapata crime was in 1976
Thirty years back
Yet the dogs found something
Zapata confessed to his crime two years ago
The dogs it turned out WERE correct On April 13, 2005, police left a message for Eugene Zapata with his wife in Nevada. The next day, the locker’s key was returned to U-Store Mini Storage in Sun Prairie. The empty locker remained locked until Aug. 10 and 11 when police opened it.

Dogs detected the scent of decomposing or decomposed human remains inside and around the locker, the search warrant indicates

Then here is the Link to the Zapata confession in 2008

That's all the proof I need.

The dogs were used 3 months after Madelaine went missing.

The 'strike rate' is not 100%

They detected ' a cadavour odour '. Whose cadaver ? Is it not possible to ' place ' cadaver odour ? We are all aware of ' planted ' evidence.

I'm not surprised this hasn't ended up in court. A first year law student would put more holes in their case than a Brakpan stop sign.

whenever a child goes missing i have always wondered why the sniffer dogs are never brought in at the time of the initial missing persons report. surely doing it this way you can narrow down the suspects or leads.
