Rooney was suppose to be the next big thing in england but has become a average player, hence his over-rated.

The point is his a striker, his job is suppose to be scoring goals not setting them up.I dont see big things for him the future and 100% other countries dont fear him in the england shirt.

Not really. Not all strikers are there just to score goals. As a support player he is great. And once we get a real out-and-out striker to play next to him it will be great as well...With Ronaldo attacking from the midfield as he does, it will be pretty damn sweet.

@ Killa

Rooneys job is to score goals. Not to set it up. He isnt a midfielder. If a striker cant score goals, then he is poor. That is the plain hard truth.

A few years ago, Rooney was a superstar. Now he is just average in everybody's books.

No way man. Any proper supporter of United will realise what he contributed to the side this year. Sure, he didn't score a million goals like Ronaldo but his workrate and setup for other players was really good. Same can be said of Tevez.

You missing the point of a striker, his suppose to be there to score goals.

@ Henry hehehehehe

Not all strikers are there to score goals? hehehehheh :D

Do you believe that? Name me one striker whose job was not to score goals?

Rooney, Tevez, Kuyt, Heskey....There are many who do a great job supporting their strike-partners whilst not scoring as many goals as they do.

I agree. We not debating weather he is a good player or weather he contributed or not.

We debating weather he is a superstar of world football, remember a few years ago, how he was tipped to be the best of the best on the football scene.

He didnt deliver. Thats what this is about.

I see. Well that is not what you have been saying up to now.

Even as a striker, he could still be a really great player if he didn't score 20 goals a season, like this year.

I do agree that he has not lived up to his early hype when he left Everton and first came to us.

All those are not world super star strikers. They are average strikers in my books.

Rooney wasnt suppose to be average.

Yup, we on the same page now. He is very average is all im saying. Sure, he contributed. I admire his work rate.

But if you look at the top strikers in the world (which Rooney was suppose to be) They score goals like its a hobby.

I can see where you are going with this. And I agree for the most part. The best strikers in the world are going to be those that score lots and lots of goals. The ones that play in a supporting role are not going to get the plaudits or awards despite doing a really good job in that position. So, yes, I see what you are saying.

with united system, rooney does not play an out and out striker

if you watch the games you will see this

i'll say it again without rooney ronaldo and united would not be where they are

Who wants to bet me that Ronaldo wont have a season like this one that just past? :D

Nope. Not all strikers are like that. Not all strikers are just there to score goals. Like I said, he is good in the supporting role.

All strikers are there to score goals, thats what makes them strikers.

Indeed.

Speaking of work-rate, park is another player who seems to get a lot of praise for having a high workrate, when all I ever see him do is run around a lot. His finishing is terrible, so is his crossing. In fact, going forward, he has very little to offer. I don't see what all the fuss is about with Park to be honest.

aha There you are mistaken. He is suppose to be that striker, the one that nets all the goals. But alas, it doesnt happen. by no means is his job to assist.

I agree, and so does Kule. Only supasta does not seem to understand that not all strikers play out-and-out as strikers...

He is one of the main reasons why you made it to the final of the CL.

I partially agree with you guys. I agree with Supa as well in saying that Rooney is very over rated. He is supposed to be a lethal striker, he is rather a tame midfielder :D

Sure, maybe he started out like that. I am sure most strikers do. But over the years his role has changed to one of support. Which would be just fine if we could find someone to play up front alongside him who scores lots and lots of goals, like RVN did or like Berbatov would :)
