The Mazda 6 Thread

I have an older Mazda 6 and I go everywhere their silly soft roaders can go. SUV, same car, little higher much more expensive and no more practical.

How are the running costs? I am thinking of getting myself an old sedan that is reliable and easy to maintain. Leaning towards Japanese for obvious reasons, Mazda or Lexus.

I have around 250k(might be higher ill check later) on the clock. Only things done are services, brakes, shocks, tires. Only belt I've replaced have been the aircon. Replaced the belt and pully as it was sqeeking. Thats it.

No bearings, cv joints, driving belts/chains nothing, nothing on the engine, no sensors. The cat converter light is on but who cares I'll just remove it and throw it away.

I replaced the spark plugs for the first time at 200k.

The car is a camel just keeps going and going and the fuel consumption is still 9l-100km i have the 2.3l, i want something to break so i can justify getting a newer car but it refuses.

Uses no water, some oil every now and then maybe every second fill up.

Mazda 6 Wagon [EU]

The New Mazda6 Wagon made its world debut, and the Sedan its European debut, at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The latest update to the Mazda6 is the most comprehensive yet, offering enhanced quality in almost every detail of Mazda's flagship model. It features a more mature, elegant and refined exterior design, and extensive interior revisions including completely new front and rear seating.

New technologies boost the performance of all SKYACTIV powertrains, and driving dynamics have been enhanced through increased body rigidity, steering and suspension system revisions, greater aerodynamic efficiency and reduced NVH. Safety has also been improved, the New Mazda6 offering an even wider range of driver support systems through the adoption of advanced i-ACTIVSENSE safety features such as Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and a 360° View Monitor.

EXTERIOR DESIGN

A new frontal design adopts a more powerful, deeply sculpted look accentuating horizontality, a low center of gravity and a wider stance.

The new front grille design features a lower bottom edge and signature wing tips underscoring the headlamps.

The grille mesh is positioned deeper within the surround, and the mesh design is a deeper, more intricate pattern of small blocks, strengthening the 3-D presentation of the front.

The new headlamps adopt a sleek, wide shape. LED turn signal form a line along the unit's upper length, and the signature lighting penetrates the projector to create a bolder expression when illuminated.

Mazda 6 2.5 GT Sport Nav+ 2018 UK review

Should I buy one?

If you care about driving and your reasonably priced saloon must sup unleaded petrol, the Mazda6 makes a strong case for itself. For a front-driver it’s not only unusually satisfying but satisfying full stop.

We have our doubts about this 2.5-litre engine, however. It doesn’t spin out quite as sweetly as the 2.0, and when it does the additional thrust comes at a disproportionate cost to fuel consumption. With the top-spec 6 you’re also obliged to have to the six-speed automatic gearbox, which seems a shame when the manual alternative is so good to use. To us, the sweet-spot would be a manual 2.0-litre car with around 180bhp, but unfortunately that doesn’t exist.

The 6 is therefore a 3.5-star car in the range-topping guise tested here but worthy of four stars if you go for the more powerful 2.0-litre variant in a high specification. The interior feels more sumptuous than ever and the standard specification is generous. It’s a smart, comfortable, spacious saloon (or estate) that stands out among staid rivals both for its design and handling.

Just so that people can stop trollin' FST with his timely updates on vehicles.

Edit : Now that is a car I would love to have. The Mazda 6 has been rather desirable to me since I can remember, but this one is just adorable
So much character and charisma.

Glad this is staying with them for a year, good long term review sedan to have.

Next-gen Mazda6 sedan to switch to RWD and inline-six – report

A fresh report out of the United States claims the next-generation Mazda6 will switch to a rear-wheel-drive layout and offer inline-six power.

According to Car and Driver, the fourth-generation Mazda6 will hit the market towards the end of 2022, making the shift to a longitudinal-engine platform with rear-wheel drive and an inline-six.

Back in May 2019, of course, the Japanese firm confirmed it planned to build new inline-six petrol and diesel engines, while also hinting it would develop a fresh rear-wheel-drive platform for large vehicles.

Next-gen Mazda6 rendered as rear-driven sedan with six-cylinder power

A recent report claimed the next-generation Mazda6 would switch to rear-wheel drive and an inline-six engine. And now a digital artist has released renderings of what the newcomer might look like.

Nikita Chuyko over at Russian automotive website kolesa.ru created the images, which depict a possible design direction for the next version of the Japanese firm’s large sedan.

The rumoured switch to a longitudinal-engine platform has allowed Chuyko to extend the wheelbase and shift the front axle forward a little. He’s also lengthened the bonnet, with the rest of the front end drawing styling inspiration from Mazda’s Vision Coupé concept.

I hope they keep the V6. Auto Auction Rebuilds recently got an old one - total basket case - but looks and sounds very nice.

I think Mazda might be the only Japanese car brand to have great attention to detail in what ever they do , something Toyota and other Japanese car brand cannot even come close to.

Hey guys. I've been researching buying a 2015 Mazda6 2.2 DE Atenza. Found a decent example online. It has around 95000km and has FSH and is from a Mazda dealership. Is there anything that I should be worried about before purchasing this vehicle? I need it for the extra space and I'll be damned if I jump on the SUV bandwagon!
