The Middle East Conflict Thread

Gary i have an issue that people associate terrorism with the Islamic faith
Adam, I do, now why do you think that is? I am not saying that all Muslims are terrorists but maybe if more Muslims were on the side of Jews and more publicly denounced terror and did something about it things would be different. Yes maybe it is short sited of me but when I pick up a newspaper today and read that Islamic nations are calling for attacks against Jews everywhere what would you like me to think?

and there is no such thing as radical islam
Then what are you saying? Are you saying that Islam want to destroy the world and not just the radicals?
again my issue is the killing of innocents ... (im repeating here again) ... comment on this ... have i actually applauded the Palestinians for killing people, firing their rockets? ... no ... but you, marine1 and Frankie certainly have justified the death of innocents ...
Just explain something to me. Please. Who voted Hamas into power? It was the majority right? So the majority support terrorists. Right? If the majority support the terror that Hamas are creating with the backing of Syria and Iran then they are in the same bed as them, it is simple logic. You can only blame Hamas for creating this situation of "innocent" deaths. They are the ones who broke the ceasefire YET AGAIN. Come on man be a man and admit that Hamas are to blame for this recent tragedy.

Ok i see what you saying Gary .. yes of course there are these terms created like "Radical Islam" etc ... I know this ... but what i want you to do is think what those terms mean and what they are actually in the end inferring!

don't associate someones behaviour with the religion ... AGAIN i repeat ... Islam condones killing of innocents ... so saying radical Islam just does not make sense ... yes i do know the term exists but think beyond what the media has fed you! ... cause in the end what does the media achieve, it portrays Islam as being "radical", no compassion for human life and this is just not right!

You and I both know they are not a real part of our religion.

But like I said... we are the ones who have to do something about it.

We are the ones who have to condemn it from within and call it for what it is.

Not "radical Islam" not "Christian terrorism" ... but plain and simple "murder"

but it is our problem. The world is not going to do anything about it but fight with them and make the problem worse...

The US vs Iraq
Israel vs Gaza

As has been pointed out many times... this will only escalate.

We are the ones who must change these people who call themselves part of our religion by exposing them and taking away their crutch.

We must stop them from using the name of our religion for their evil deeds.

I still say we should let them kill each other out. Theyre dead bent on it anyway. Smart people should leave the area.. those that wanna kill each other for Gods land should be left to sort it out.

They just musnt come whine about it when it happens. Like Somalia.. some cultures still have to go a long way before they wake up.

The world has more important issues than Middle East BS.

It's easy to say that but if you're Jewish/Israeli or Palestinian you feel connected to the people there. In the history of the world the struggle for self determination (and its maintenance) is very common.

As much as you and I hate it... these radical people are using the name of God to justify what they are doing.

I agree... they are not part of my religion... and I think you agree that they are not part of yours.

But they are our problem. We are the ones who have to deal with the radical elements in our religion. We are the ones who have to condemn them and disassociate ourselves from them.

i agree with you (finally), exactly what im saying they use religion to justify their cause ... and killing an innocent aint right ... so the word Radical Islam is incorrect ... and i don't like it as it infers that Islam in its nature is radical ... not everyone has wiki and the uninformed on hearing this term will make that connection ... thats where i was going with it

I don't see that on your part. I see you going on about the innocent children and condemning Israel as the aggressor. But I don't see you condemning Hamas for what they have been doing for years now. This post of yours is actually the first in which you say you condemn it. Now we are getting somewhere.

I don't justify Israeli aggression, I don't condone the killing of innocents and more than you do. But let's be honest and put the blame where it is due.

Hamas could have avoided this present round of conflict by abiding by the peace treaty and by not provoking Israel to attack.

They are just as much to blame for the death of innocents as the "Israeli aggressors"

Both parties are to blame ... yes hamas is wrong to fire those rockets even if only one person died ... does not make it right ... neither is Israel in the right

The solution i feel must be a balanced one ... equality ... like i am tired of arguing :) ... dont these people get tired of fighting ....

EDIT: Like an example i used: if your son say for example murders my daughter ... and if i retaliate by killing your entire family ... can i really say you had it coming, because you harboured a murderer, you brought him up that way? ...

a child is a child ... think what you knew when you were 5 years old regarding world conflict etc ... it is just wrong and sad ...

That is the crux of this whole issue. My opinion is that Hamas are just doing the bidding of Syria and Iran, they want Israel to be fighting and to cause chaos in the middle east. This is maybe being done to divert attention away from them and nuclear intentions. The bottom line is Israel has not threatened anyone with total annihilation. Iran has and they are in bed with Syria.

In a way the condemnation is against Israel because most people expect the Israelis to behave more responsibly and in a more civilized way. They are held to a higher standard.

I wish the other side would finally realise this and try to live up to a higher standard too.

The difference being that Israel has the capability to annihilate its enemy and Iran doesn't.
Yes exactly and what has she done about it? She has not destroyed anyone. What would happen if Iran and Syria had nukes? Very different story. Seems they celebrate death while Israel celebrates life. Must be something about virgins ;)

I really don't think Israel want to annihilate the Palestinian people though.

Hamas? Yes... sure.

But Israel would be quite content to live alongside the Palestinian people in peace. I honestly believe that.

Israel have lived alongside the other Arab nations for 60 years now. They have the capability to inflict massive damage on them, but have as yet refrained from doing so. They only retaliate when attacked and threatened... exactly like what happened in 1948 and 1967.

i honestly think without being biased as a Muslim, they both will want to annihilate each other ...

amazing logic that if you use innocent people as a shield you're then free to attempt to kill as many innocent people as you please

I see the AU have condemned Israel [again]

Their condemnation carries about as much weight as Robert Mugabe's presidency in my honest opinion.

No surprise there. Those that ardently supported Mugabe now condemn Israel to the benefit of Hamas. People like the peanut I quoted in my sig

Islam is the following of the teachings in the Quran and now you use Radical Islam ... I dont get this Radical Islam, as you and the media so nicely throw these words out

So this revered Muslim cleric represents all Muslims and the Islamic faith, and I guess you believe he shouldn't be jailed ?

BTW, he is not the only Muslim cleric currently in jail in the UK for the same reason.

In one of the largest protests, hundreds of demonstrators briefly scuffled with police outside the Israeli embassy in London.......

Amazing how quiet they've all been while the Islamic extremist persist with the terrorist attacks such as rockets and suicide/homicide bombing of innocent civilians.

Did they all protest in this way when at the time of the Islamic extremists recent attacks on Mumbai ?

So how many such propaganda threads are we going to see?

You people keep on about the rockets coming from Gaza, here's a quick question who broke the truce between Hamas and Israel? broke the truce which led to rockets being fired from Gaza?...

Oh right, Israel!
A four-month ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza was in jeopardy today after Israeli troops killed six Hamas gunmen in a raid into the territory.
link

Sure you keep believing the propaganda and great PR backing Israel that Israel is the poor defenseless victim...

Oh yes, and it's not 99% of Palestinians who voted for Hamas so why should they all suffer? (not forgetting Christian Palestinians)

'Mickey Mouse' promotes jihad

This is the type of indoctrination that is severely hampering all efforts for peace in the Middle East.

'Mickey Mouse' promotes jihad

Palestinian children are being entertained and indoctrinated on television by a Mickey Mouse-knockoff who teaches them to fight for Israel's destruction and Islam's domination over the entire world.
