The Most Disgusting Thing I've Ever Read

And if the society he lived in as well as his direct circle of peers molded him into way he was, shouldn't they all be also put to death?

Very good point. We are influenced by our society, so maybe the government should try harder in fixing all of that as well?

Righteous killing? It would be what he wants, he would carry it out himself. Not sure why anyone would want to keep him alive, apart from to torture him.

Because some people don't know how much they have. My keeping him alive, we mustnt ingore him. By helping him through his rough time, maybe he can be convinced other wise and start enjoying life?

I'd rather die than be in jail, although i could see how incredibly easy it would be to abuse a choice system.

Well then go ahead. At least the government, the tax payers and the executioner didn't kill/murder someone who could potentially be innocent.

Yeah, they just sent them to jail, to get raped and beaten, and be someones b****, where they might even be forced to commit murder, or be put into a position of being murdered or commit a painful suicide.

Never did I say I wanted them to be raped and beaten or murdered. That's a current problem with our justice system that bothers me. But starting to kill them all isn't going to solve the problem. Dealing with our problem properly will. Im$ not saying, nor have I said, our justice system is working. I just don't agree the death penalty will improve it or is not a better option.

Anyway, this argument is as usual pointless. You have you ideologies, I have mine.

Not sure why you keep bringing my mom/brother/sister or dog into this. Emotional evocation fail.

Fact is you seem to be a fallacy yourself:
I can kill, I must just candy coat it to a righteous jesus killing then it's cool.

Seems religion and your christainity still have a very far road to go before they shake their murderous coated intent.
As I thought ;)

Nope, he knew the consequences of his actions. He's got a conscience - have the ability to distinguish between right and wrong.

Absolute cow dung! What about accountability? I believe in the basic goodness of every human being - unless proven insane!
There are many people rising above their social environment. With this I'm not saying education should be ruled out, i'm saying one cannot always blame society for a person raping & murdering another person. That's just absurd!

Not if he grew up in said society the didn't instill a good concience

Then he would need to be declared medically insane in a court of law if he wants to escape punishment. With that I'm saying that if he's not insane, he's able to distinguish between right and wrong - regardless of his society and its influence.

And how could they possibly have done that?

I have no doubt that his family and personal life probably has more violence in it than my own, but what he did is on a completely other level. He didnt kill for drugs, he didnt steal and sell a car, he didnt mug someone and accidentally shoot them. He didnt shoot a homeowner to avoid being caught.

He. Raped. His. Own. Aunt.

For R1500.

And she isnt the first women he has raped. And he is 18 if I remember correctly?

Even if the social normals in his environment are somewhat different to mine, I'd bet they have certain things in common with mine, such as family should be valued and protected, women should not be raped.

And I think your argument takes personal responsibility away from him, and really, thats all we have. If you dont take responsibility for what you do, you should not qualify for a human being in my books. Only a subhuman leech tries to blame other people for his failings and problems. Its not my fault I cant get a job, says the British yob, they made this beer taste too good. Right.

You see, Prophet lives in a world where hugs, kisses and a pat on the back makes everything right.
Anyway, very good post. Accountability! I agree

I still believe it's wrong. imho the last unos lies with the person, but you can't help but wonder if it was also because of his environment. Just taking that person out of society, doesn't fix society and they can very well breed another person like this.

However this does not call for being an ******* and troll. I do apologize for those two.

The trouble is that you get rapists and murders from all backgrounds - your rich wealthy elite, to your middle class, to this guy. I dont agree that his background predisposed him to rape but I think it predisposed him to violence.

However, where does that stop? Should we let him go because his environment made him do it? Should we let him go in a year, free to rape again, because of his environment?

You cant change his environment over night, so as difficult as his background might be, the law must apply to him equally as it applies to others. When you start playing favourites according to background (ahem, AA), you are heading for trouble. That means he has to take responsibility for his crimes. It would be great if it were a perfect world and no one came from a background like his, but, equally, everyone makes choices about their lives and has to live with the consequences. He chose to commit this crime for a cellphone bill. He bears ultimate responsibility.

Agree and too add if he is allowed to carry on his child will grow up in this environment, and a never ending spiral ensures
