The most graphically advanced game?

You didn't just seriously say that?

you just gotta love it :D :D

Ok, quick facts:
if crysis can only be played on full settings at a moderate res and 0-4xAA with cards ranging from R3500-R9000 (and these are recent cards) then how on earth will consoles costing the price of just a graphics card be able to beat this game?

this game it simply to intensive to run on consoles, and farcry 2 is using the same engine, but the game engine has been re worked A LOT! if any console can manage medium-high settings on low graphics and NO AA or AF then thats a job well done.

Well most people say that console is owning pc, just what I heard, in terms of graphics

and then the other people say pc gaming won't last much longer and they say pc's are to crap to play even GTA4

Wow on wikipedia it says crysis recommends 2GB ram and a 8800GTs

....so what has crysis bring us which was really something new, extra ordianary or revolusionary than just building on the foundation of polygon engines ? (don't get me wrong crytek 2 is really an awesome engine.)

*curious*

I think the most advanced game is Crysis Warhead to be. Crytek says that it uses an improved Crysis engine. They also say that it has improved graphics, gameplay and physics.

Crysis has got ALOT of eye-candy, which every gamer loves, including myself. But if you want a game that can cripple even a skulltrail machine in terms of CPU usage and still have amazing graphics, I nominate Flight sim X (although it is a bit boring for my taste it is incredibly realistic.)

...its called Crytek 2, btw and not crysis engine. Crysis Warhead, according to the dev's would be tuned and improved version of the orginal crysis IP, which as they say, will run allot better on current configs than crysis itself. That remains to be seen though. My Q, though is what really have they done visually excluding the physics (which in it self was really good) apart from as i said *just* building on polygon egine - is there anything more programmatically one can do ?

I know that. I called it the Crysis engine because it's the engine used in Crysis. It's an improved version of Crytek 2 that will be used in Warhead.

ye, but they making warhead less demanding then crysis but a lil better looking. I think they just making the Crytek 2 engine a lil more mature, so it utilises the hardware at head better. So they just making the programming more efficient and therefor better at using the hardware. A lot of people are put off buy crysis because most systems simply can't handle the game at a decent res and a lil eye candy, so the dev's just modded out the engine a bit

The only thing that's still eating at me is whether DX10.1 will improve anything with the necessary hardware of course. I have Crysis and run it on High Detail so it makes all the difference to me.

How can it be better graphics than ps3/xbox360 games if that pc can play it?

What comparative hardware do you think a PS3 has in it?

The PS3 will cause a nuclear explosion if you tried to run crysis on it:D

Mushroom cloud FTW!

LOL and the Xbox360 will get bored and finish the game for you :p

well DX11 was anounced on paper, think last week - saw it somewhere on a tech site, will run on current dx10 cards.

there is however little gain over 10.1 to 10.0 from what i've gathered so far.
