The new Telkom

No differentiation

As far as I know the companies currently holding a "MOBILE" license are:

Vodacom
MTN
Cell C

Mobile as I understand means the ability to hand calls over between base stations.

Not even Neotel has this as an option (yet), so I am not sure why Telkom beleives they have a "mobile" license?

I can see this being a competition commission challange for them.

Cross subsidy of customers .....

Under the ECA there is no differentiation between fixed , mobile or fixed mobile.

That is why MTN & VodaCom have partnered with NeoTEL to lay fibre throughout the country. In 2010 VodaCom, MTN, Neotel or any VANS could be bringing you ADSL or better speeds Via Fibre to your home.

For the Record NeoTEL will be offering mobile services once they have their 2000 Base-Transreceiver-Stations up and running. The NeoTEL network is mobile Voice and data enabled already.
Just no cell handover because not all Towers are in place.

MTN & VodaCom are already providing fibre to business's.

As Adie said, only the very [-]stubborn[/-] committed among us won't go with the cheapest option.

I'm looking forward to the day I can order fixed-line ADSL from someone other than Telkom. They can reinvent themselves to their heart's content, after that day they will not get a cent from me.
We are in the Fred & Barney catagory with regards to telcoms in this country thanks to them.

Just roll over and DIE Telscum...is all i have to say..
They have been exploiting south african consumers for decades, circled the law wherever they can for their goals, ridiculed anyone that would open their mouths and protest. I SAY go down Telkom, you will certainly NOT be missed by anyone.

We should not wish away Telkom completely (eating my words already!!!). All it means for us the consumer... is more competition. Look at the 3G market... they have already undercut Voooodocom and MTN!!!

Just a thought.

Telkom is on a mission to [-]reinvent[/-] suck itself.
Looks about right.

[-]Freedom[/-] Forced to compete. Those three words appeared in large letters on Telkom CEO Reuben September’s slides at the company’s interim results presentation on Monday
The truth revealed.

Dear New Telkom

As I stated to the Old Telkom: Kiss my Hairy White Ass
