Dros rape accused back in the dock

The man accused of raping a 7-year-old girl in the bathroom of a Dros restaurant in Pretoria is expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

During his second court appearance earlier in October, the court heard that the accused would not be handing over his cellphone to assist the State with its investigation.

This was put on record when the State formally applied for access to the device.

"My instructions from the accused [are] that he does not want to help the State regarding this issue at this stage. At a later [stage] this issue might be considered," his attorney, Riaan du Plessis, said.

Dros rape accused referred for psychiatric evaluation

JOHANNESBURG – The Pretoria Magistrates Court has referred a man accused of raping a seven-year-old girl at a Dros restaurant for a psychiatric evaluation.
Nicholas Ninow is facing charges including rape and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.



It’s understood the 20-year-old followed the little girl to the bathrooms at the restaurant and raped her last month.
Ninow has made his third court appearance on Thursday morning while political parties, NGOs and activists attend proceedings.
The State says it's best that the 20-year-old is referred to Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital for mental observation, a suggestion the defence seconded.

Who cares? The focus is now on him. Off for evaluation, some or or psychiatrist is going to write report about his diminished capacity and recommend he gets treated. In a years time he makes a dramatic recovery and he is back out on the street.
The victim? Well look at all the focus on this creep. She does not stand a chance.

Not one article anywhere in sight about how she is doing and what counselling she is going to receive. Probably her family have to carry all the costs as well. In the mean time this guy gets everything on a plate. Our system is sick.

Exactly. Serve the clicks and political agendas, not what's right.

This has a refrain of the "Racial Valhalla DA CPF" from a few years back; much political grandstanding to slate the DA (some of the members falsely accused were not even DA), politicians motor mouthing ... yet failing to appear in court. The media was going wild. Innocent people slated and their businesses destroyed. It had all the components needed (nvm how truthful).

Yet the one(s) responsible for the death of the victim? Not newsworthy and no political points to be scored, so who knows or (really) cares.

There are thousands of rape cases every year (not to mention baby rapes and muti murders where they cut out the genitals of kids), most of them perpetrated by black people. Whether you like it or not it's all about race, show me all the other rape cases getting as much media attention and political party protests. It's fscking sick. He should have given her taxi money(sic) and the ancwl & eff would have supported him! I'm fscking tired of this hypocrisy, double standards and political grandstanding. We also have siff people in society promoting this crap.

It's not double standards bud. This happened in a restaurant, with a child and there was a video, that's how it spreads. The media then get hold of it and it's a popular story because people are talking about it. It's not just news now, it's a scandal.

If this didn't involve a child I don't think it would have had so much media attention, as sad as it is to say that.

I'm agreeing with Ponder 100%. This is not about the little girl at all. Also please show me follow up reports on how she's doing? That proves the focus. Also my point I was trying to get across earlier:

It has much greater implications. Just like millions were spent on Bell Pottinger campaign by Zuma's son and the Guptas to distract from corruption by focusing on "white monopoly capital" monologue and using twitter trolls to attack people, money will be spent on generalizing this guys actions and making him the poster child for the average white male.

BLF recognizes that this is not an isolated event, that the assault on the 6 year-old black child by the racist peadophile Nicholas Ninow, who allegedly confessed to have done it before, is not an enigma. He is a true reflection of all white males. A species that is dangerous, enabled and racist.

They even slander him by saying he boasted of raping previously to portray him as a serial rapist and then in the same breath say all white males are serial rapists as a result.

He was caught with drugs but instead of politicians portraying him a a drug user and focusing on the negative effect of drugs on South African society, they turn this into something as nasty as possible to create racial unharmony to distract from rampant corruption. You and I might be able to tell the difference between politics and the truth but a young disenchanted black person will not and will quite possibly take it out on an innocent person(s).

Yes it is. Would another case get so much mass attention with people taking their time to go and wait outside of court? These aren't people involved in the case or even from the area. Meanwhile it's ignored that black people have stood up and said that rape has become black culture but see what happens when a white female judge says the same. It's a sad state when rape has become a political play ball. If the focus here was the event there would be follow up with the girl but we still don't even have medical confirmation she was raped.
