The noobs starter guide : FAQ's

Okay so I have a question. If I have a character is Post Searing, and a character is Pre Searing. Is there a way to transfer items from my character in post searing to the character is pre searing? If so...how?

No, you cannot do that. This is specifically to prevent people from bringing high level stuff into pre-searing and messing up the balance in pre-sear.

New FAQ: Best way to make money at low levels?

By first making sure that you pick up everything that drops and selling what you do not need to the merchant in town. And then by not spending too much. There is no need to buy new armor in every new town you reach etc. That way you will always have enough money.

I picked up a silver dye and thought it would look cool on my boots.

Found out later it sells for 700

*cry*

At least I have silver boots now

Wait till you find some black. Black is beautiful and sells for about 8K a vile :o

Got 2 silvers myself :D

I guess since the money was made so quickly, the dye wastage is not as bad. However, had I slogged away like she did to raise the funds, I think Jack Daniels and myself would have had a long, depressively suicidal chat :)

hehe, she is indeed a pixel melter!

:D Actually I logged on quite late, cos I fell asleep when I got home, and then spent half my time with Locke, spamming Guild Chat with horribly nonsensical carp... I don't recall seeing any requests from you though, else I would have gladly helped.

We'll go with your reasoning though, since it makes me look FAR more l337, rolling around in my fortunes like a pig in poop, dismissing requests from the peons in standard armour :D

Whats with staying in pre-ascalon until lvl 20 would that not be boring, i know you get a title but is it really worhth it?

Omg i heard about the title carnt memba the name of it but , the title includes you not dying until you reach lvl 20, That must be impossible right?

I believe the title you are referring to is the Legendary Defender of Ascalon title. This title can only be achieved in pre-searing and will take quite a bit of time IMO.
IIRC the one method I saw on reaching this title is actually by dying over and over in order to get the experience. So, it is not like a 'Survivor' title, where you must have 0 deaths.

Dunno how n00b this is (and apol's for the thread-resurrection!)

I have been playing GW on dialup for months. After setting up ADSL today, I can't even connect to the ArenaNet servers at all. I searched around and found tips about port-forwarding and port-triggering for ports 80 and 6112. Neither have helped.

We have the 2C Mega 100WR (also known as the Aztech DSL600EW) and I've installed the latest Comodo Firewall Pro. The problem persists after giving it full rights and even shutting Comodo down. I'm somewhat at a loss here.

That happened to me too when we got DSL. The only thing that solved it was reinstalling Guild Wars. If you're a bit wary of this try repairing the installation first and checking whether it manages to connect to the server during repair. If it doesn't, then don't reinstall as you'll probably be stuck with a Guild Warsless PC too.

flarkit, have you tried running the -diag switch after the gw.exe?
If all is well there, it may be gw.dat-related or even application firewall related.
I had an extremely strange scenario recently where I couldn't run GW from one of my networks (but it worked from anywhere / everywhere else) and others were using the same network fine.
I ended up uninstalling and upgrading my Firewall application software.

In all the time I've played GW, it seems some sort of information is stored in the GW.dat / cache file that is to do with your connection/s.
I've had several funny problems, I am very mobile and only play GW on my notebook, so ye....
