The obligatory PC vs. XBOX thread...

10 months ago was when most of the gaming community couldn't play Crysis remember .... not today. And afaik, they just aren't gonna code it for Xbox, not because it wouldn't be able to handle it ;)

I would love to see an XBOX that can run Crysis at DX10 High detail Settings, like a few PC gamers can.

That reason, right there, was what discouraged me from continuing with PC gaming. I had to keep up with the Jones'. If a fellow XBOX-gamer runs a game on his XBOX and I think it looks spoogtastically good, I can rest assured that I'll have the exact same experience on mine.

And putting a PC game like Crysis on a pedestal to generalize the glory of PC gaming is like me claiming how glorious the XBOX is because Skate has such wonderful control. PC's have their unique games and so does the XBOX. But looking at the cross-platform games, there really is *much* difference between them. We both get to play the same game, just on different platforms. I just decided that the PC platform isn't viable for me to keep on upgrading, so I switched to the XBOX.

can't wait to see what it looks like...anyone got some comparison screenshots?
Comparisons between the Xbox and what exactly? A >R10 000 PC or the average run of the mill gaming PC that most people have?

Clearly it has the potential to look better on the PC, if you're willing to spend some bucks.

You won't if he is running in on a hd tv and you don't have an hd tv.

Besides its fun to upgrade your system. Many people find it a great thrill to install a new shiny gfx card.

Most of the pre-release footage shown so far was actually from the XBOX. They even demoed it at E3 on the XBOX. If you watch that TV show on Go (PlayR) they also showcased FC2 at some point - on the XBOX.

All the pro PC guys are saying the same thing, "R3000 Xbox vs R3000 GFx card, buy a GFx card, and it will last you 5 years"

But what if your PC doesnt support a new R3000 Gfx card, I know mine doesnt, i can only get a AGP card, and apparently that aint hip these days... So R3000 Gfx card, plus new motherboard, plus chip, plus memory, plus new monitor.... all said and done, R15k for a decent machine, that still wont play all games at maxium capacity, until you add that little extra this or that... pffft, you can keep it thanks.

Xbox 360, Fable 2 and my 47" Full HD TV... I'm down with that :)

Since when? I could post a great R6000 build that will a few years.

Spending more than R10 000 on a pc is unnecessary.

that thing is dated in 2006 - guess they couldn't get it to work or something

so are we comparing Xbox to 2006 Pc's or whats happening here?

A full PC for R6000...sure you could. However I doubt it would be able to run Crysis/FarCry2 at the highest possible settings?

You've just proved what I was saying to Keeper...a R6000 PC could run the game, but the comparison Keeper was looking for would then likely favour the 360.

Yes, there are people who spend more than R10k for their pc's, because its their hobby, and they can. There are also people who pay more than R10k on golf clubs.

Crysis has a bad engine, their doing more for less on far cry 2

Yeah, you might get Office running on Vista on the highest details, at a reslution of 12398485x2239845 with 1024x AA and 4096x AF... :p

Agreed, but some people cannot justify spending that money or putting in that effort just to play a game.

but that's the thing. It's not just to play a game. I will always a pc no matter what. Burning cd, converting movies, browsing the net, watching movies and work sometimes even.

If I have my pc for all that stuff why spend the extra to buy a console for the "privilege" to buy overpriced games. Doesn't make sense, does it?

*ding ding* Exactly what we were talking about a few pages back. We're talking about wanting to game versus making PC maintenance a hobby.
