Looks can be deceiving methinks :)

Poms let the first one slip way more than they should have. Complacency is an ugly thing.

Hence why they did not completely outplay them. ;)

Its actually been a pretty poor series quality wise from both players and officials. Primarily the top order batsman from both teams.

Eh? There were three remaining matches before this one. Concluding they deserve to win it this soon into the series is a stretch.

If one day's rain in test 3 costs you the Ashes then you were properly beaten.

Reports on Australia's Channel Nine have suggested that players have been using a ‘silicone-based tape’ on the edge of their bats to interfere with HotSpot.

The infra-red technology, which is used to detect thin edges, appeared to malfunction during the third Test at Old Trafford, where both sides expressed disbelief at some of the decisions reached by the DRS.

ICC’s general manager of cricket Geoff Allardice flies into Newcastle today to meet representatives from England and Australia ahead of the fourth Test at Durham to discuss issues they have with the use of technology.

There is no evidence at this stage to suggest any player is involved.

but.....

There is no evidence at this stage to suggest any player is involved.

So how do they know that 'players' are doing it.

Maybe a story for April 1st, because the same 'players' who have not been showing hotspots when caught have/could have instead showed hotspots when LBW was questioned.

Perhaps this is the hotspot technology company - aka Ch 9 - defending its product or ICC defending DRS

Not really.

If you get a Nick on an LBW it's normally the inside edge... so u just don't tape that part :)

Agree, and the ratio of dismissals between caught-behind and inside-edge-Lbw is incomparable.

Most LBW turned down are due to edges though...but beside the point if silicone not even proven to mask the hotspot anyway
