The Official Ashes 2013 Thread - ENG vs AUS

Me too. The British absolutely f*****g disgust me.

Why is that?

Let me take a wild guess.
1. visa was declined. or
2. went on a 2 year working gap year holiday, went out one night to a local pub and got bottled across the forehead. or
3. the Anglo/Boer war

Because being around a gloating Brit (e.g if England win the ashes) is a nightmare.
"OH what history, we are the best in the world, no-one can touch us, 3rd place what? Please. we the best. blah blah blah blah blah blah blah."
Then its the media, ENGLAND - GREATEST CRICKETING NATION EVER TO HAVE GRACED THE WORLD EVER.
This year we dub England - The Untouchables.
Then the comparisons will come. Anderson is definitely better than Steyn , he took 2 10 wicket hauls - best ever.
Ian Bell sure could teach Amla a thing or too about handling pressure.

Honestly it is just a really unpleasant experience.

Most of the hype is from the media, granted alot like to gloat, but that happens with every nation.

+1

England have reached 5 tournament finals. How many have they won? Zero.
We've won every final we've been in, a 100% win record. 1/1, even that is better than England's zero.
And they call us the chokers :p.

Do some research before you post such information, some forumite might believe you and they then spread the same story as fact somewhere else, unless that is what happened to you.

England won the 2010 T20 world cup.

Lolololololol. Oh, man. I really needed that lift today. Thanks so much for putting a smile on my face.

I Hate England more than Australia. You hated Australia because you knew they were the best. With England, It's different, they actually believe they are the best of a generation. They are arrogant without ever achieving anything significant.

They compare Cook to Tendulkar, Steyn to Jimmy. It's ridiculous. Yes Cook and Jimmy are great players but let's not go overboard?

10.25 Five minutes ahead of the usual schedule, the captains are out there for the toss. Praying to win the call and bat first surely on this glorious morning. Up goes the coin, Michael Clarke calls heads, it lands a tail so England have won the toss and will bat first. There is a change in their team, Steven Finn misses out and Tim Bresnan comes in. Clarke would, of course, battled first, and confirms the team changes, Khawaja for Cowan and Harris for Starc.

England Alastair Cook, Joe Root, Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell, Jonny Bairstow, Matt Prior, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Greaeme Swann, James Anderson

Australia Shane Watson, Chris Rodgers, Usman Khawaja, Phil Hughes, Michael Clarke, Steve Smith, Brad Haddin, Ashton Agar, Peter Siddle, James Pattinson, Ryan Harris

The choice for England is whether or not to retain Steven Finn. He wasn't at his best at Trent Bridge and Tim Bresnan could be brought back. But Finn's record in Tests at Lord's is superb, surely England can't ignore that?

Watson to Cook, OUT, full ball, swings in, Cook wrapped on the front pad, umpire Erasmus has a long look before raising the finger what a change of bowling. Cook caught on the knee roll in front of middle, Cook doesn't review because it looks stone dead. Very nicely bowled, great length, Cook drawn forward and got beaten by a bit of movement down the slope

AN Cook lbw b Watson 12 (14b 2x4 0x6) SR: 85.71

Hawk Eye had that plumb, going on to hit middle and off, good decison from the umpire and from Cook not to review...

UDRS is going to be a hot talking point throughout this series.

UDRS plays a role...

Harris to Root, OUT, full and straight, Root slapped on the front pad, is this going down? No! It's given out! Very well bowled, Root has reviewed it though, is it squeezing down leg? Actually scrap that, there's a huge edge but was it pad first? Root may have squeezed this onto the pad. It was given out remember, the third umpire is having a long look at the replays. Tony Hill is the TV umpire. Yes pad first, Hawk Eye has it hitting leg stump and Root is gone! Australia have a double strike and England lose a review. It was marginal but a fair enough call

JE Root lbw b Harris 6 (14b 1x4 0x6) SR: 42.85

26/2 now. And for our Aussie readers, 2/26.

28/3 ... aka 3/28 ye Aussies

Harris to Pietersen, OUT, full length just outside off, Pietersen forward, thin edge and caught behind! Harris has another! What a selection and what a start for Australia. Pietersen always vulnerable against the new ball and has nicked off here, a thin edge as the ball just shaped up the hill, superb bowling

KP Pietersen c †Haddin b Harris 2 (4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

Overrated bunch of pretenders. Flintoff > Kallis, Anderson > Steyn, Cook > Smith, LOL
