Boats are the best lol i unlocked everything in (one round if i remember correctly) 2 rounds the Dam map and parcel storm, around 50mins to unlock it all :P but i was destroying the enemy boats so much when they came out and was camping c on the dam level.

Jets and choppers are far too easy to take down in BF3 and BF4.

BF2 almost had it perfect although a good pilot could seriously rape. What I liked was the vehicles were super powerful but had to return to base to re-arm which added a touch of realism.

How do you manage the throttle? It's where I guess I come undone... But I agree with your points.
As you suggest, possibly a slight nerf to boats, but really slight. The disadvantage of not being able to take cover should have some positive spin.

I missed BF2, only really got involved with BC2 and BF3. But yeah, the heli's in BF3 feel much the same.
It just feels like my armour is made from paper mache.
 
After repeatedly stating on the forum that I most likely wont be getting Bif4........ I bloody well did go out and get it last weekend.

I am not sorry for a bit, this game is fun as hell........ who knew if could be this much fun getting pwnd (this unfortunately happens more than what I would like to admit).

Just one piece of advise to the general BF4 playing public, if you ever see my name in the pilot seat of any flying vehicle...... get away quickly, I am dangerous in it (mostly to myself and everyone within 10m of the takeoff pad).
Yet to master flying in these games.
 
With brake and afterburner. The choppers in BF4 are sitting ducks if someone has a stinger. You just have to accept you are dead as they shoot missile after missile after you and you can only flare once for every 5 or 6 stinger fires.

Not cool. The choppers do feel more sturdy in BF4 its just the stupid flare time and the fact they can no longer fly below radar. DICE obviosuly only listen to the moaning(COD) noobs that complain about chopper pilots because they can only run around on foot and dont even bother with trying a jet/chopper.

I concentrate so hard on flying I don't even notice the verbal abuse getting thrown at me in the chat box.

I agree in BF3 they were "safer" in the skies now its just fly in between buildings is the best bet to avoid locks but then roof top RPGs and the likes take you out. Also i find heli vs heli so annoying if you only have flares havent gotten ECM yet, i mean if someone on the ground locks you and launches you flare and the other heli just waits and pewpew 2 rockets right up your alley.
 
Had an issue last night were I couldnt not connect to a specific server I played earlier, started to connect & then disconnected.
Did a Google search & found that if I port forward 3659 on TPC & UDP I could connect.
Just one of those weird issues.

Not to blow my own horn, but I'd say i was a pro in flying in BF3 (jets, choppers, anything).

BF4 I'm not yet sure if its more difficult - just different game mechanics requiring a different flying technique. I'm getting the hang of choppers (which is very similar to BF3) only real difference is bullet/rocket damage is different - less damaging I think
Jets is another story - now they have purpose build air vs ground attack jets. But the real pain in the butt is the 3rd person view - which makes it completely disorientating to fly a jet - maybe they meant to do that...dunno
But I guess, its the same for everyone so even stevens.

ps. I spend quite a while on the training range, setting my stuff up and getting general feel for the jets/chopppers - before I actually flew in MP - so no complaints from passengers, only enemies :D

I make a point of ignoring the chatbox, a little something I have learned since the days of playing CS and MW2.
Some people can get quite......... "expressive" in their choice of words. :D

This is bad, I can't connect to most servers tonight

Game disconnected: could not join server.

I've tried the port forwarding trick as well, no luck
 
Terrible tonight.

Cant connect or I connect and then game crashes at some point. Also getting flickering etc
 
Just went 15-1 in the little bird. Don't think I ever got that many kills flying it in BF3. IT DESTROYS INFANTRY. So nimble as well.

I don't see how the boats need a nerf. The places where they can actually get to you is fairly limited. You can most of the time escape them, not so much from a Tank.

Besides that the attack jet can completely destroy these boats in ONE pass using only the 30mm cannons.

I think DICE decided to make boats more useful this time around as an attacking vehicle, something like a tank that's on the water. ALL of the previous BF games had pathetic naval units.

Possibly. One round I happened to be looking at the score board when the tower on siege of shanghai collapsed and instantly 75% of the players disappeared :D
