The Official BlackBerry Bold 9900 Thread

Anyone upgraded to OS .205? I have .190 seems like a small upgrade, .325(I think) is available for the 9930.
 
I have searched through crackberry and cannot find that article or forum page. Can you maybe send me the link?

I have had a car charger which uses my BB PC cable - it works well on other models of BB but when I plugged in my new BB9900 today it said that the phone cant be charged by it.

Any help please as we all know the batt life suxorz

Thanks for this info EddG. I just rebooted my phone and I see the mobile hotspot feature is now available.
Perhaps Jannie Van Zyl can inform us how Vodacom will bill the subscriber when this feature is used.
 
I tried it out and got a warning that additional charges may be incurred.

That's fine because if I want to use it i'll just get a data bundle.

It won't run over free BIS thats for sure. The SPs are battle to keep those up without a pile of other devices connecting too.

edit: No google authenticator for BB OS >6...wtf

Hi 9900 users - a question: given the fact that the 9900 is now a year old and that sometime in the not-to-distant future new models and/or new OS's will be available, would you NOW (May 2012) buy this phone or would you hold out for the next model?
I've been fence-sitting waiting for prices to come down (they haven't - if anything they've gone up!) and don't want to sign a (for me) expensive contract only to regret it in 2 -4 month's time...

I have 2 9900s, one for work and one for personal. I upgraded to both within the last two months.

The haters will tell you RIM is failing and BB is rubbish, but the haters (mainly iSheep) have been saying that for ages.

What phone do you have now and what do you use it for?
 
And those of you without a rapid charger (the one with the yellow end), get one. Now. Charge time cut in half. Literally.

I paid R399 for mine but I think you can get them for around 250 if you shop around. Definitely worth it.

I've been on a Curve 8520 for over 2 years. Browsing, email, calendar mostly. Before BB I had Nokia E70. Qwerty is something I've always preferred otherwise I'd look at something like the SG2...

I'd love the touchscreen capabilities and improved features of the 9900 but the increase in monthly spend is substantial...

Indeed.

If you are going to be typing a lot, then, for me, you need a qwerty keyboard and a proper one like on the BBs. I went from 8520 to 9900 - it is a massive jump.

It must be said that if you are going to browse a lot, you are likely going to want 3G speeds to do this, unless the 2G speeds of the 8520 are still OK for you. Beware, then, I got 5-6 hours of solid usage out of one charge on 3G. I get 12-14 hours from the same charge with the same usage on 2G + wifi.
