The Official CLASSIC Mini Thread

I would like to see if I fit in a mini, I'm too skaam to randomly ask someone and I hardly see some rollin' about.
I'm 2.04m @110kg... I kind of want to buy one and restore it... but if I don't fit what is the use...

Trust me. You WILL fit. That's the beauty of the Classic Mini design. Don't be put off by its small exterior dimensions. They are HUGE inside. I've seen some TALL guys fit EASILY inside. Alec Issigonis designed them "unconventionally" at the time (transverse motor / radiator on the side of the engine) with the specific purpose of being able to get more interior space and accommodate 4 adults easily (with luggage).

lol just spoke to my boss who had his mini done there. he also says i just need to relax :)

i feel a little better now :D

Sounds about fine ... it's not major work that's getting done, so the lackey should be able to handle it.

#FOMO has me wanting one :p

On mobile.. Any local mini specific forums where I can get a lay of the land?

This might give you an idea of whether you'll fit in a Mini.

Seems I have a little bit of an issue with these wheels. When turning, the outside of the front tyres rub against the wheel arch on the outside.

What can one do about this? Spacer?

Sexy little beast you have there Fanie. I have spacers on mine.

Taken about 2 years ago. Haven't done much as I got ripped off by a mechanic and the poor baby stood in his yard for 8 months before I got a trailer and picked it up myself. The engine is sound though with not a leak.

I might give her some loving over the next few weeks in my time off.

^ That's looks awesome. Maybe when I buy another for a build up, I'll buy a bull nose as well.

I'm no mechanic, so let me ask you a n00b question. Do spacers push the tyre out from the car, or lift the body. Seems I need a spacer that lifts it.

Also, I'm taking it back to Tommy in the coming week. That carb is not set properly. The dude that worked on it said I should bring it back when Tommy is back from PMB because he needs to play with the needle a bit. Seems it's not pushing through enough fuel.

Brakes are sorted at least, seems the car was just being braked by the front wheels, as both the back brakes needed to be bled, lots of air in there. All the lights sorted, oil leak sorted, sucktion cup thingie of the rearview mirror doesn't seem to stick to the window :( will give it a good licking. New radiator cap also sorted.

Seems it just that damn carb

I'm no mechanic either but wheel spacers push the wheels out. I do know that the brakes were converted to disc brakes on all 4 wheels and perhaps the spacers were put in as a result of the conversion.

I'm only home next week and can check then.

No problem. Thanks.
