The Official EPL 2010/11 Thread

Rivaldo has a smashed in a good few in his time.

The media is making Roo's goal seem as if it was the first bicycle kick ever....... weird.

Like most of the okes suggested, perhaps its coz he is English !

:erm: Crouch falls on his back... just like Rooney. Only thing is, it's more difficult for Crouch to pull off that technique than for Rooney to do it. Anyway, it's not even the best overhead kick of the year. Go check goal.com roundup of overhead kicks and there is one by a Chilean I think that was more amazing and better execution. It's just coz he's bloody English.

EDIT: Kobe sucks. That is all.

Yeah but Crouch's legs are flailing all over the place and his body just looks contorted. Sure it's amzing that he pulls it off but it sure as hell doesn't look pretty. Also I'm not saying Rooney's was the best bicycle kick in the history of football either.

Please don't tell me you're a Lebron James fan :/

It was a good goal, but didn't deserve headlines. Nasri's 2 goals the other day were way better & beautiful too.
The English are desperate for an English player to do well, much like the Murray 100 year wait for a grand slam thing. Rooney=over-rated.

Murray isnt even English....lol

Meh. Decent goal but over-hyped by the English media. If it was Berbatov the headlines would have been something like "Berbatov scores upside-down goal after exquisite pass by world class <insert English player's name here> who is the bestest player in the world blah blah blah"

Haha, you guys need to get over it. It was a fantastic goal, for all those reasons.

Sunderland have announced a net loss of £25.5million for the year ending July 31 2010.

The Black Cats saw turnover increase slightly to £65.4million but operating expenses also went up, to £70.4million, resulting in a loss before player trading of £5million.

And player investment figures of £26.2million, which included the signing of 10 players on permanent deals and three more arriving on loan, contributed to the overall loss, which was £2million more than for the previous year.

Commenting on the figures, Sunderland chief executive Steve Walton told www.safc.com: "We are facing challenging economic times, both nationally and regionally.

"However, our financial results do continue to reflect a continued period of growth and development for the club.

"There has been significant investment made to improve our playing squad and we are now starting to see the benefits of that investment.

"The continuing support of our owner also puts the club in a secure position, giving us a positive platform to continue to build on."

It was also announced that owner Ellis Short has converted a further £19million of loans into shares in the club.

Doubt much of the money from Bent's sale is going to be reinvested in players

Allways a lot of speculation who is going to make the drop from the EPL. On the other hand there will allways be 3 teams coming up. 2 Auto promotions and 4 in the play-offs for the last spot iirc.

Current Championship log:

1 Queens Park Rangers 32 61
2 Nottingham Forest 31 56
3 Swansea City 32 56
4 Cardiff City 32 55
5 Norwich City 32 55
6 Leeds United 32 53

Any supporters on here that fancy there team making a comeback to the EPL?

Not a fan but I'd like to see Leeds back in the EPL. I've always considered them a 'big' club.
Cardiff would add something different to the league as well - first time a non-English team would be in the EPL.

Yeah would be great to have Leeds back in the top division. Whether or not they can stay there is another thing. Still hard to believe that 10 years ago they were finishing top 4 in the EPL and made the semi's of the CL.
