For sure, I think the RB5009 is aimed at the enthusiast homelabbers, but for the everyday layperson, I think a good piece of kit would be the L009UiGS-RM (or L009UiGS-2HaxD-IN if you need WiFi).I have the hAP ax³ and I am very happy with it.
I use the wifi as a 5GHz bridge between my landlords router and my own (just to keep the rest of the house separate from my network).
I run a AdGuard container on it too.
The RB5009 is a sexy piece of kit, the question is whether you need all its features.

It seems like a decent value proposition, if you can live with slightly slower throughput thanks to the dual core CPU and less storage and RAM than something like the ax3.
Crazy the amount of stuff they can cram into a tiny 9.6mb file (MMIPS arch in my case)RouterOS 7.16 [stable]

I run the Adguard Home container on my AX3.
Yes it can, as long as you are running ROS 7Cannot run containers on an AX2 - as far as I know.

Any chance you can run a container on a PC on the network? Or maybe an old Pi lying around you can use to run PiHole?
Did you look at Mikrotiks adlist https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/DNS#DNS-AdlistThere any recommended adblocking scripts that will run on a MikroTik AX2 router?

I can tell you my RB2011 is unhappy with this adlist- prefer my VPS running Adguard HTTPS DNS to handle it
