The official Mikrotik router thread

So when I left SA I only could take one of my tiks with me , opted for the hEX PoE lite , left the 3011 behind (was too big)

I overestimated the cpu power of the hex poe lite , thinking it was a newer device

Now I am settled again and have fiber , the ipv6 fastrack limitation is limiting ipv6 traffic to about 80-100mbit on the hex

I was looking at the hAP ax³ , I dont need to use the wifi which was the main drawback on reviews

Someone mentioned the RB5009 on reddit if you want lots of cpu/filtering/queues and its not much more , for what seems much better specs (and larger flash storage)

I am sold on the RB5009 but thought I would post here before pulling the trigger, maybe someone else has better options?
 
I have the hAP ax³ and I am very happy with it.

I use the wifi as a 5GHz bridge between my landlords router and my own (just to keep the rest of the house separate from my network). A Unifi AP AC Pro provides wifi to my client devices.
I run a AdGuard container on it too.

The RB5009 is a sexy piece of kit, the question is whether you need all its features.

For sure, I think the RB5009 is aimed at the enthusiast homelabbers, but for the everyday layperson, I think a good piece of kit would be the L009UiGS-RM (or L009UiGS-2HaxD-IN if you need WiFi).

It seems like a decent value proposition, if you can live with slightly slower throughput thanks to the dual core CPU and less storage and RAM than something like the ax3.

Agreed.

I bought the hAP ax³ to be my router for the next few years. Basically wanted a router that would meet my (and my family's) needs for years to come. I have never been a massive fan of doing wifi on a Mikrotik, but I thought it would be good to have it as a backup should I ever need it. But I will always opt for something like a UniFi AP or a mesh system when I need to cover a larger area.
