I know you think you're being smart ... but I'll reply anyhow :

MikroTik may manufacture 2,000+ units that are available every few months. If distributor A, B, C and D purchased 500 each ... there is zero at the MikroTik warehouse until the next period. Distributor A, B and C may sell out - leaving distributor D with the only stock. When that clears however, distributor D needs to wait until MikroTik have once again.

UniTerm , in this case, would be distributor D.

From what Ive read, people generally use Mikrotik for Routing, and something else (like Ubiquiti APs) for wifi.
 
So hoping I can get some help here as I have been banging my head open on this.

I have been running Pihole for a while, and it stopped working a while back. Didnt have any time to check it out until now. Initially I thought it was the Raspberry Pi thats running pihole that had an issue, but I installed Pihole on another Rpi that I have, and the behaviour was exactly the same. It turns out there are only two Android devices that I am experiencing issues with, all other Android devices, Laptops, and Android TV boxes are working fine.

When I say "experiencing issues", I actually mean that the devices internet stops working totally.

I fire up Torch on the Mikrotik to investigate, and low and behold everything is working fine. Turn torch off, and Android devices internet times out again.

Has anyone experienced this?

When setting the DNS Server to something like 1.1.1.1 everything works fine. Setting it to my Raspberry Pi address and the behaviour is as described above.

This all use to work flawlessly untill a few months ago, so I suspect something changed in a RouterOS update.

Sorted this out. Disabled "Allow Fast Path" under bridge settings.

Assume its got something to do with this:

Bridge fast path is automatically used if following conditions are met:


When I turned on Torch, then fast-path was perhaps not being implemented, because the router had to do some form of analysis on the packets to show them in torch.

Does anyone have a decent guide on QoS? I want to prioritize gaming traffic, all the guides I have found so far is a little old and outdated and doesn't really know how to deal with Netflix.

Its not that bad to configure, fairly easily overall. Only thing I struggle with is QoS, seeing if data is going to Netflix via mangle rules, but its encrypted so I just throttle the connection of the device streaming from Netflix instead :laugh:
 
Weird Problem

Frogfoot fiber installed today. If I connect the Ethernet cable from the Frogfoot ‘black box’ directly to my PC I am able to connect to Cool Ideas (via a PPoE connection) using the supplied credentials.

When I plug the same cable into eth1 on the Mikrotik, it refuses to connect.

All I’ve done is swap Openserve/Vox with Frogffoot/CISP - using the same infrastructure and Mikrotik configs (PPoE, Firewall rules etc) that worked when I was using Openserve Fibre network.

First tried setting up a new CISP PPoE connection, then tried reusing a previous PPoE but swapping the login credentials.

Stumped.

Load shedding doesn’t help ‘cos I can’t resume troubleshooting until 20h30.....

Does your computer get an IP address from the CPE? Perhaps try to enable a DHCP client on the 2011?

Tried cloning your PC mac address to the mikrotik? Works on the Vumatel network which works differently, but worth a try.
