The official Mikrotik router thread

I need some help.

How would I go about doing the following I want to use ether1 as the wAN port PPPOE out over the VDSL modem, then on ether 3 and the Wifi of the RB951 I want my internal network 192.168.88.1/24 and on ether 4 I want a completely seperate network (public hotspot) running on 192.168.99.1/24 both networks must use a raspberry pi (1 pi for each network) as the DNS and DHCP server, however, the internet on ether1 must be the internet both networks use.

Is that the same Pi or 2 of them?

How epic are your vlan skills?

MikroTik Rack Mount SFP Router | RB2011UiAS-RM

Will this work for a 50mb fibre link. I want to manage the filter and QoS myself.

It has a 600mhz CPU and 128mb RAM

Also Research the Hap ac2, and RB750gr3. I only have a 4Mb line and a RB750gr3, but with some simple queues and fast-track turned off its at 0%-1% CPU usage.

Do you have to use Pi Hole? Moving the DHCP and DNS service to the Mikrotik would make your life much easier.

Don't think adding the pi hole as dhcp will make life that more complex, been using it as my dhcp server for years.

What makes life a bit more challenging for me is setting up multiple networks on routerOS vs Unifi which I'm used too.

Hi Thor,

Setting up more than one network on mikrotik is fairly easy. If you need help give me a PM and I will gladly send you my cell and we can talk it thru on whatsapp or a call.

Why in the actual ass would you want the PI's to be your DHCP servers?

You would have WAY more control if you ran two VLANs and two seperate DHCP servers on the routerboard.

Hello, I need some help in setting up a bridging router to a Mikrotik Router which I have no access to. The ISP does not allow access to the router. I need to add a bridging router so I can control my SSID etc. Any guides on this forum. I have been reading for the last 2 hours and no luck.

How do you connect to it currently? I think basically you are talking about an access point.

ISP Provided locked-down mikrotik user has to connect his own AP downstream to likely
Yep a wireless access point connected to main router or wireless access point connected to a switch that is connected to main router.

Why not do something like this...

Ether1-Internet (PPPoe to VDSL router)
Ether2-PiHole (possibly 192.168.77.xxx range)
Ether3-192.168.88.1 (Mikrotik does DHCP)
Ether4-192.168.99.1 (Mikrotik does DHCP)

Set the Mikrotik as the DNS server, then tell the Mikrotik to use the PiHole as its DNS server.
MASQ all traffic from Ether3 and Ether4 to go out via Ether1 and you are on your way to the races.

Feel free to drop me a PM if you need assistance.
