Aiming to do 10G internal because why not.

Over fibre or copper? Personally I haven't bothered for home use but it's nice that it's affordable for home now. Fibre is just a pain because a crimping tool for ethernet is all you need and it's like R150 and even the cheapest fibre splicing equipment is crazy expensive.

Looking to replace my RB2011UiAS-RM & CRS125-24G-1S-RM with a CCR1009-7G-1C-1S+ & CRS312-4C-8XG.

But I an torn between the RB1100x4 and the RB4011 instead of the CCR.

If you’re looking to do 10G on routing, the only one on that list is the CCR-1009. 1100 is a great option from a CPU perspective if you’re ok with less routing capability that 10G. If you’re doing 10G internal- your bigger priority is a good 10G switch.

RB 750 cheapskate ones hits 100% CPU when routing 4 peoples udp traffic from their data. :/

They are EOL and old. The RB750Gr3 are much faster.

The next question is what WiFI to use? Only using 5Ghz because 2.4Ghz is painful in an apartment.

can't comment on the Mikrotik APs (just using their router), but I'm super happy with my Ubiquiti ac lite.

We use 3 AC lites at the office across a single floor. All on low power and minimal channel width (20 for 2.4 and 40 for 5). They don't interfere with each other and handle neighbour interference perfectly (we have about 10 neighbour SSIDs), even the 2.4 Ghz - which means we have no issues whatsoever. But all that comes at a price, and we don't see more than 100 Mbps to each client at about a 1-2ms latency. But that's perfect for a work environment. The AC Lite is really great at blanketing a floor with consistent WiFi.

I use a HAP AC2 at home and get great coverage and speed throughout. Unfortunately I'm not on-net and can't take advantage of our fiber (my complex has a pricey monopolised FNO/ISP setup). The HAP manages some L2TP with IPSEC and does the job of getting 25 Mbps to cover the place.

Have you managed to find a decently priced 10G copper switch though? Mikrotik CCR-317 is 10G, but you'll need a 10G SFP RJ45 module for each port, and that adds up quickly with even 3/4 10G devices. EdgeSwitch 16XG is also well priced, but once again, 10G SFP modules cost a tad.

CRS312-4C-8XG looks like it will be a pretty decent switch, even for Top of Rack! Looking forward to seeing that hit the shelves! Thanks

Me too, I've been using Ubiquity for years.

However I am starting to use Mikrotik devices more and more.

Yes, a 2011 is more than enough for that.

What is the ideal settings to configure to have the best possible range on the Metal 52?

Right now I have VDSL -> Routerboard -> POE -> Metal 52 ac + 8dBi Omni

I am not impressed with the distance my tenda has better coverage so clearly the Metal 52 needs some tuning, this is the first time I am playing with a mikrotik with an external antenna.

All help appreciated.

Yes, that will work. A RB2011 starts maxing out around 200Mbps of traffic over NAT.
