The Official NVidia Shield Thread

Which hdmi cable are you guys using?

I'm using this

Any of you guys who ugraded from a 2017 shield to newer, might want to sell your old 2017 model? Im looking for another one. Can come without remote as well.

Is this a good price for the non Pro version?

I see they've now discounted the price and I ordered it at the normal price
Maybe I should cancel my order and buy this but I don't know if the ZA15 code will work again.

I cancelled my order and reordered it. The code still works.

What was wrong with discount and how did you get to fix it?

Having same issue now
Im not sure. I kept on removing it and adding it back. Earlier today, i had $120 worth of items, and there was no discount either. Not sure why

In audio settings, do you guys leave stereo upmix off or on? Whats the benefit of having it on?

Anybody with a 2017 Shield, that struggles to get the HDMI cable out? I cant seem to get mine out, as it feels stuck. It comes out a small way, but then does want to come all the way out.

Would it be a bad move to get a 2015 Shield? Same internals, but the 2015 has SD card support for additional storage. I know the 2015 version is bigger, but thats not such a big deal.. just need to know if the new remotes will work with the 2015 version?

If its not bad, then my 2017 model will be up for sale. R2800 incl box, no controller

Have a Shield Pro on the way, I use a Full HD monitor with HDMI port, as screen and a JBL sound bar 2.0 for audio.

Ideas, on how to best connect these so I get picture and sound.

Would rather not use Bluetooth. Sound bar has HDMI ARC, Bluetooth, mini headphone jack and optical spdif inputs.

Known good splitters/adapters etc. that work for this rather odd setup.

Edit:

Oh, it also has a USB ( input ? ) wonder how to test that without a USB A to USB A cable?

Anybody have the new nvidia remote, but it fails to apply the firmware update? It connects fine, but when trying to update it, it says failed, unknown error

Edit: never mind, after about 4 or 5 tries it finally updated

So got my Shield Pro today, and it is playing decent sounds on my soundbar.

Plugged an old Asus Xonar U3 USB sound card into the USB on the Shield, 3.5mm jack into the soundcard, and a 3.5mm jack on the other side, into the soundbar.

No problems, like I was afraid of. :)
