The Official NVidia Shield Thread

No I did not do anything through the TV, just the Shield.
For some reason, my LG tv does not need the No Authentication thing but the other TV does.

I disabled CEC as well to see if there would be a sound difference as my receiver plays a bit softer now with the Shield connected.
What happens if you remove the Shield from the no auth list?

Just payed sonic and all stars from the games menu. Nice experience.

This shield is definitely the best purchase this year.

Any of you install apkkure on your box to side load xapk files?

And how does this Nvidia gamestream work? Does it connect to Nvidia servers to stream the games? As I'm getting kark lags.

Think I need a stronger network to stream games smoothly from my main pc. Everything is still on 2.4ghz plus high packet loss due to computer and TV being far from the router itself.

Looks like this is your answer.

GameStream is your network and GeForce Now is over the internet.
So if I rather install that sonic & all stars game on the shield then I can play locally with a few controllers?

Is Geforce Now only hosting Android apps or others as well?

Yes I'll be making changes very soon. Unifi AP and a better router. Just need to move my Telkom wire elsewhere.

I can go for a 20meg line but the afrihost guy said that it's pointless given how far the exchange is, so I'm stuck on 10meg.

Is all of this worth it if I'm stuck on a 10meg line?

GeForce Now has a ton of games but they will be near unplayable due to ping, if you want to play games from your PC you're going to have to upgrade your router or use Ethernet.

Given Geforce Now is pretty useless for South Africans, upgrading your Internet bandwidth isn't needed.

Upgrading your internal network to play games on the Shield is more reasonable. It's a once-off cost (especially if you go ethernet which is what I would recommend - cheaper, better performance, more reliable). A better local network is also going to pay off when you stream high bitrate video from your PC to the Shield.

Did any of you install apkure to install APKX files? Or where can I get pure APK files from?

NVIDIA is rolling out a Shield software upgrade today, bringing users new features as well as the return of one old one. The company's new GeForce Now beta was released not long ago and today's update introduces some improvements to the streaming service including in-game voice chat support for popular games like Fortnite and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and the ability to connect a headset and mic to the Shield controller. Additionally, NVIDIA is tweaking its keyboard and mouse experience, introducing smoother and more accurate mouse movements, keyboard shortcuts and a Keyboard and Mouse Games row on GeForce Now. More day-and-date releases are on the way as well, like the upcoming Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

NVIDIA said that one complaint it has heard a number of times from users is that logging into services on Shield could be a simpler process. That's why it's releasing the NVIDIA Shield TV app -- a virtual keyboard and mouse companion that should make logging in easier and faster. It's available now on both the Google Play Store and the App Store. Today's update also includes 120Hz modes for supported TVs and monitors and quick settings for powering off, restarting and sleeping. Lastly, the company is bringing back NVIDIA Share, which lets users grab screenshots, record game highlights and stream gameplay to Twitch.

I am currently downloading that. I just got the OTA now. 64,19MB big.

Yip, mine is installing. Anyone found the mobile app yet? Haven't spotted it in the Play Store

Do you guys see 4K 120Hz on your TV's in the Shield settings?
