The Official NVidia Shield Thread

Read up on the USB 3 thing as well, some people use the port furthest from the ethernet port.
Funny how this thing passed the testing phase for a problem that is so small in comparison to what other brands do, like the firestick.

I just did that quick mod on the internal antenna. Let's see how responsive the remote is over the next week or so...

Edit.... everything still works after plugging it all back in...

Edit 2... I think its worse :crying:

Thankfully, have no issues with my remote. Box is sitting behind the TV (wall mounted).

So what apps are you guys running on the Shield?

Is your's running via LAN or on the 5GHz band?

Not sure if this is correct but I found a setting that allows me to use the IR to receiver to control the volume. It seems that the pro only(I have std one) has an ir port but this setting makes the remote behave like an IR one by working only with line of sight only. Much stable as well.

Yes, I'm doing that. I control my LG sound like that, uses pass through now via HDMI to retain 5.1 and control volume.

Edit ... Been thinking again how I set this up, I'm not 100% sure it is the IR controlling the volume. I'm more leaning to the fact its passing volume function via CEC to my amp. I remember enabling something in the settings, and it asked me what brand device I was using... But I thought the IR capability was for both model Shields.

Anyone notice jittery playback on Netflix and Kodi? It only started after the last update. Did a reset and it improved but still noticeable. Also, when a video starts there is like a 1 second of sound that disappears.

Nah mine is fine.
I also connected my Shield with LAN, all my problems are gone.

Well, there are two problems that I picked up.

1) If I disconnect my PC from Ethernet, and connect again, the Shield can't stream any movies or series from my PC unless I share the folders on the PC again.

2) Google home (on phone) does not detect my Shield anymore with the Ethernet setup. Can't stream to the built in Chromecast from the phone anymore.

Also tested Mortal Kombat XL with my Ethernet setup now... It plays perfectly.

Mine is always on lan. No issues with chromecast. Only have these issues.

I recently moved all my AV equipment around a bit and realized that I had my Shield plugged into a non-4K port on my amp. I moved it into one of the 4K ports however Plex now refuses to play any content. I have audio pass through set to HDMI, though disabling that has made zero difference. Any idea what could be causing it to not work?
