The official running thread™

I prefer road, simply because in most neighbourhoods, the pavements have rocks, bushes, trees, etc., so no running space. Where there is decent pavement, I'll run there. That said, I only run on quiet roads, never on busy roads.

Example below of where there are KM's of decent sidewalks, but the guys run in the road on the yellow line, basically in the gutter..

If I'm training to run a road marathon, why would I run on a bricked sidewalk?

Hmm, this is a rather good looking sidewalk. I would most probably run on it if the roads are really busy. But like others have said, generally I run on old roads where only 1 car passes you every 10 minutes.

That's an exception rather than the norm and it's a new area. Most pavements simply cannot be run on.

It's also a busy road thats relatively narrow.
I'd still run on the road facing oncoming traffic and then hop on to the pavement to avoid close encounters.

In summer between 5 and 6am most roads are dead so you exploit it.

Maybe it's just me, but I avoid the road at all costs, unless there is no pavement, don't want to become another statistic.
 
I have a Garmin 245 Music that has a line on the screen. I bought this from Amazon in December. I booked it in for repairs at the Garmin office in Rosebank but I'm feeling very reluctant to take it there after reading the recent reviews.
Has anyone taken in their device for repairs under warranty lately? I really don't want to be without the watch for a month and would rather use it until I travel to Europe.
