If you can sustain 3:20 pace for 2 minutes then you're training paces are too slow. I suggest you go few seconds faster than garmins suggested times on your workout days. For easy days stick to whatever feels comfortable. The Puma MagMax arrived today. Someone did indeed try them on, but they weren't worn. At least not as far as I could tell.
As promised a pic together with the Velocity Nitro 3. It's a bit tough to get the real scale to reflect. The MagMax is considerably larger than the Velocity 3s.

The toebox width is what I would love the Velocity 3s to have. The width is perfect. I'm not sure about the length. There should be sufficient space in front of my 2nd toe [just less than a thumb's width], but I'm not sure if the toe would rub/hit the front at faster paces. I irritated the toe again during my long run on Saturday so it's still sensitive. (How long does a black toenail take to heal anyway?) Couldn't tell if the MagMax irritated it too. I didn't feel any discomfort during the run, but the upper does feel a bit hard so it is something I need to keep an eye on. I might have to try a half size up if I buy a pair again.
I really like the tongue material. It's really soft and stretchy and quite a bit thicker than the Velocity. The upper also seems very breathable, much better than the NB More V5. Didn't have any heat issues with the shoe. Only downside is the sole. Their is not as much rubber coverage, with quite a bit of exposed foam. This might cause the shoe to wear out much quicker than the Velocity.
Took it for a first run and I'm impressed and did an 8.39 km base run. The run was so much fun. It's the first run in a long time where I got back with a smile on my face and thought "that was fun". The very strong wind said a big nope to the 141 bpm HR base run goal. Ended up going at a pace that felt good and resigned myself to being in Zone 3. Managed a pace of between 5:42 to 6:10 which is quite fast for me. The new shoes wanted to run fast so I threw the HR to the wind and did a full sprint and managed to get to 3:20 for a sustained 2 min. Shoes felt very good, even at that pace. Very bouncy, more responsive and more energy return that the More V5. The rocker (is that the right word?) makes you want to go fast and drives you forward nicely. I didn't even feel the fatigue setting in during the last few km. Bouncy AF seems to be true
I don't want to jinx it, but I think I might even prefer the MagMax over the Velocity Nitro 3s! [Don't tell them!]

Don't you have enough shoes already that will last you multiple lifetime's?I might have exaggerated the time. Will have to go back and check to be exact. I already do the anaerobic sessions at aroun 3:40 instead of 4:10.
I also wanna try the ForeverRun 2. Question is if I should pull the trigger now or wait for you to report back on sizing. Unsure if I should go up .5 size. The MagMax width is perfect for me.
I checked and it was actually for just over a minute (35:42 - 36:50) . My seconds math failed me initially. The pace was 3:18 to 3:30.If you can sustain 3:20 pace for 2 minutes then you're training paces are too slow. I suggest you go few seconds faster than garmins suggested times on your workout days. I bought a pair. The flash sale is only for today. I've never gone half size up or down with puma. I tried on the foreverrun 2's at the puma store about a week ago. Theres slightly more room in the toebox than in the velocity's but not as much as in the magmax. I would say it is more or less similar to the deviate nitro 3. The fit is quite nice.

Multiple lifetimes? Nope. Years? Possibly. But I'm at 270km per month now so not all that many.
If there's a bit more room in the toebox than the Velocity I should be fine. The thing is that with my pronation the ForeverRun is what I should be using. I don't need it, but I WANT it. I have a birthday coming up so might just spoil myself...
Which colourway did you go for? I like the black, but not the purple and yellow sole. The cool weather yellow calls to me more.
Still trying to decide. This guy didn't seem impressed, but he might have been having a bad day.I hope the foreverrun shoes last atleast 2 months. My legs feels proper whacked I could really use the ekstra cushioning right now.

Did the ForeverRun 2 feel like it had extra cushioning above that of the Velocity? How was the midfoot width?
You are sub 20min 5k ready imho. Just need to whack a few (12 or 16x 400m) on the track, maybe a few varied interval sessions ie 2 x 1600m, 1200m, 800m, 400m, 200m and some hill sprints ie 12 x 15s or 8 x 30s. Rwmember you only need to do 1 x sub 4min k and the rest at 4m to hit that sub 20minTook the MagMax for an Anaerobic session (8x1:00@4:10). Was it the smartest choice? No. But I wanted to see what it could do.
Best pace I managed was 2:54 and average run pace around 3:40. The MagMax held up very well, it was only at interval 4 where I began feeling a bit unstable. This was when fatigue set in and my pronation and form got worse. I'd say the optimal pace for the Magmax would be around 5:00+. I still need to do threshold session to see how it does with that. Base sessions at 5:40 - 6:30 pace are great.

I think I'll reign myself in and hold off on ordering the ForeverRun 2 now. I'll wait for it to get the @8letters stamp of approval and then hopefully pick it up in the next sale.
Getting 3 new pairs of shoes in a single month would be a tad excessive. Even for me.
That's just evil.It definitely has more cusioning than the velocity. It being somewhat of stability shoe makes it slightly less flexible so I guess I wont be using it on single track trail runs with sharp turns.
I really love my velocity's. Once I've put about 150km's on it, it loosens up and becomes quite flexible. It also works on any terrain. It's my goto shoe when running in busy areas where I have to dodge strollers, dogs, people etc like at the CPT prominade.
Took a new pair of velocity's for a spin this morning with 2 of my friends training for the 2 oceans half marathon.
They were supposed to do 4 x 3km at 4:15 and 1 x 5km at 4:25. I was tasked with pacing them. I told them to leave their watches in their cars and to lock in on my stride.
They gonna be hella sore tomorrow. I went faster than what their goal pace was and they all PB'd their Half marathon times in a training runwe ended up running 1h27:35
Did most splits between 4:00 and 4:05 with a 1km float at around 4:30. For the last 5km wer ran around 4:05 to 4:10.
Today's conditions were perfect. On race day it might not be. He could prob shave another minute off that if he digs deep. That's just evil.
Not sure about that. Cutting 5 min off my PB seems like a big ask. Sadly we don't have a track around here, so that's not an option. I do need to do another all out 5K run to see what my benchmark is now.You are sub 20min 5k ready imho. It's very windy and I had a hectic week at work last week, so I've decided to the weekend off. Why do I feel so guilty about not running?
you’ve been making great progress with your running. Skipping a weekend now might feel like a small thing, but it could set a precedent where skipping becomes easier each time. Plus, think about all the time you’ve already put in. Don’t let a little wind or stress from work take you off track. Imagine how good you’ll feel after Smashing that run.Not sure about that. All at the same pace? And what would the rest intervals be like? You
should invest in a cookie cutter plan that can help you achieve a sub 20 min 5k. You have the leg turnover. Extend your 1 minute intervals to something like 2 x 4, 2 x 2, 4 x 1 min workouts.
