The official running thread™

are you a silver medalist?
Depends what the competition is like. Gold is usually given to the top 10 and silver for positions between position 11 and 50. Bronze for everyone else. If it were the olympics then only 1st, second and third were awarded medals.

What's your marathon PB? I'm currently training for a PB at the Capetown Marathon. I'm finding it hard after Comrades training
Comrades training made me slower. Took about a year to recover and get speed back into my legs. I've been following Jake barraclough (Ran to Japan) on youtube. The guy took the Japanese approach and runs 240km weeks with lots of speed sessions mixed into his routine. I honestly don't know how he does it. Max I was able to do were around a 180km week.

I meant WRT comrades

I always get comforted by fordyce saying how we vic clapham runners are on the road the whole day. Its a different beast
I often travel to George and really enjoy exploring the mountain trails there. About two weeks ago, I did a 48km trail run solo. When the scenery is beautiful, I don’t mind doing ridiculously long runs but it’s a completely different story on the road. With the Comrades, even though I didn’t push myself to the limit and felt like I could’ve run another 20km at the end, spending over six hours running felt unnecessary.

Cowies Hill, Fields Hill, Botha's Hill, Inchanga, and Polly Shortts. But then again I dont walk. If I start walking during a marathon or ultra I will call it a day and dnf.

Second run done and still no foot issues. Going to ease myself back into things so will give my long run tomorrow a pass. Not gonna lie, it's quite disheartening since it feels like I"m back to square one again. My VO2Max also dropped to 48 which is an extra kick while I'm down.

Base [goal 31:00@142 bpm]: 5.21 km / 33:01/ 6:20/km Avg Pace / 398 Calories / 150bpm Avg HR

Nah, 2 weeks and you're back to where you were. Just keep grinding.

That is true. I'm super glad that I'm able to hit the road again, sometimes you lose sight of how fortunate you are to be able to go for a run.
I find myself wondering if I'll ever feel this way

Give it time. You'll be hooked like the rest of us!

Seriously though, once you have a strong enough base running actually becomes enjoyable. Well... enjoyable after the first 3km. The first 3 always sucks no matter what.

How long were you out for?

I've been running on and off since school days but I still don't enjoy it. Its hard to beat in terms of putting on your shoes and going for a run and getting a good workout though.
