The official running thread™

Ok so before I can do a garmin training plan for a marathon its recommending that I first do a 10k plan.

Avg pace currently 6:41km .

Whats a good pace to aim for in a 10k?

Will probably go with coach Greg

I think 5:00/km should be doable and a good initial goal to go for.

My average pace is 6:20 and my 10K PR was at 4:58 (49:42).

Had my first run with a week's trial of the Runna app today. Of course, I signed up for the trial over the weekend and then woke up on Monday unable to run, with a very angry achilles/ankle. **** knows what I did to it...

Anyway, Runna looks interesting. Much more varied workouts than the Garmin coach from what I can see, but integrates nicely with the Garmin ecosystem too, so I get the workout loaded to my watch and I get all the prompts and things while I'm running, so that's cool.

I started their Parkrun Improvement Program. 4-5 runs a week and they reckon they'll get my parkrun down from 36 to 30-32 minutes in 8 weeks....

But I could have sworn there was a web version of it. Apparently I was imagining things. So here's how it went today. 1.5km warm up, 5x400m @ 6:45, then 1km cooldown

Anyone else use Runna? Is it worth it?

So I pay for Strava already and there's a special combined discounted sub which I'll probably take up.
I am not sure I'd pay for it separately.
I'll report back with how the progress goes though, help you guys decide.

How is the paid version of Strava? Is it worth it ?

Yeah, the heat is a killer. Throw in wind and zone 2 HR becomes nearly impossible to maintain. And in Summer we have wind every afternoon, when it's my running time. Only the severity varies from day to day.

for £55 a year, I reckon so. I've had it for so long I can't remember what difference there is with the free one :D
I mean it looks nice to have. I like the segments leader board thing but I cant really justify just paying for that xD
