The official running thread™

Considering the world record for the 5000m track event is currently 12:37:35 I'm definitely calling bullschit.

yeah it seems very dodgy, like he was off for around 2 months so he could have been doing some insane training as he was already running a great time, there are 2 other times within the last 6 months that he bounced up by like 6mins and 10mins compared to his average, at that time range those are big differences.

it also wouldn't be hard to cheat, i mean skip going round that tree there for example, if you are so far ahead who will notice, maybe he forgot the route having missed out on like 2 months of PR's :p

Almost certainly cheating - you don't just improve by 4 minutes over times when you are already doing a very good time.

I want to call BS on that time :D (maybe Im just jealous????)

This guy has done some pretty impressive times, but this is one hell of an improvement on his previous times.

Yup. Bulithando is pretty flat, but the surface is uneven and rough in places, as I remember - not a paved course like Victoria Lake, for example. I've found that the times on many of the smaller Parkruns are screwy; I've had times out by up to 90 seconds either way on some of the small parkruns.

For a top athlete, I could believe a 13:20 at Victoria Lake or Midstream, but Bulithando would be a stretch.

Yeah that route has alot of opportunity for cheating....

Man, midstream is super fast, if you can push through that last 1km hill... i was on track to run my best 5km, and then that hill kicked me in the face....

Yeah that long, gradual hill at the end is a bastard. Never managed to crack a sub-20 there

Looks like his result was revised to 16:20. Still quick, but believable.

Reached 1500km for the year so far on Saturday.
