If you are in Joburg, you should come join us at Run Zone. Club is based at Northcliff Country Club. Awesome vibe and fantastic club runs. I know email responses might be a bit slow, but that is because the admins are so busy organising runs all the time, so best to just pitch for a run. Follow them on facebook for updates.I've mailed two of the local running clubs, yet to receive a reply. Thanks for the advice.
i tried to run this afternoon, from the get go i felt so uncomfortable, my leg leg sore at the hamstring tendons, my right leg sore at the shin, gave up 1km in, came home, roolled the hamstring a bit, rubbed in some deep heat, will have to see how it goes, i just don't get it
left hamstring/tendon is sore af, at this rate i wont be doing PR tomorrow
I usually ice the sore area after a run, shower to heat it up, ice again for 10 mins, bandage at a medium tightness then sleep. Stops the area from swelling and speeds up recovery.
I have a genetic condition that effects bones and tendons sucks but this seems to keep most niggles where they should be as niggles
Follow for a few days if the pain doesn't subside you gotta get it checked out, usually cortisone pill form and if its serious a big cortisone (steroid) injection into the tendon, hurts like hell but in 2 days you are better.

Every Saturday and Sunday there are club runs at two different starting times (06:30 and 07:00 now in winter). Every 5kms there are water tables and route options in 5km increments from 5km to 25km normally. In Comrades training season the long runs go up to 50ish kms. They ask for a R30 donation when attending such a club run for non-members, but this is totally voluntary.
Wednesday nights are time trials, with 5km and 8km options at 17:45. This is free for anyone.

I'll be there. Dunno about t-shirts though.Who is doing the Cool Ideas 10K run next sunday 14th at Pirates? Will Cool Ideas give cool tshirts to us runners? @CoolChick
I ran the Northgate 10K yesterday, my fastest time on it, so I'm pretty pleased.
Wow that is cheap! Just make sure it includes your ASA licence fee which I think is about R140 per year.My local club responded to my e-mail, R 150 club fees and R 100 for a vest. Cheap as chips, so I will join.
Lets see if Cool Ideas catches the hint. Hope it's a bit warmer.I'll be there. Dunno about t-shirts though.
