The official running thread™

94.7 in just over 3:15 was a hot tough day out and had a few wobblies but managed a time that I thought was almost unachievable.

Tough one next weekend but planning on doing it slow and steady as I'm not even close to 32km fit. I think it will be slower than 94.7

Thx for the reminder! I will beat my time next year :)

Edit: I thought this information is useful, especially the cutoff date for those of you on the fence.

Black Friday Special for entry to the Klipsringer Challenge, 2 day trail run in the Augrabies Falls National Park for next year - done.
Will also enter the Addo Elephant 76km race via their Black Friday special. Calender for 2023 is filling up.

RAC tough one done and dusted.

Considering I haven't run more than 12kms in a long time I managed to run until 25km and then walk/run the rest of the way.

Finished a little over 3hrs.30 which is just over 6:30 a km. Not great but I'm happy with it.

Congrats to anyone who did any of the UTCT trail runs this weekend. Was hot and windy as fck so if you ground your way around the mountain, then massive respect. A few mates did the 100km. Were looking less than flash at the finish line.

I have 3 mates the did UTCT and none of them finished. 2 did the 160km one did about 90km and the other only managed 50km before the wheels fell off which is surprising because they are generally beasts that finish in the top 20.

The other one did the 100km but came unstuck at 91km but haven't spoken to him about the reasons for dnf.

All I can say is it must have been hell out there so well done to the finishers.

Sorry to hear your mates couldn't finish. I had a mate doing the 160km. He also trained like a mofo this whole year; even did the UTD 160km in April. But he also bailed at the 42km mark. Also not sure why. Haven't asked him yet.

I've been to support for the last few years (pre Covid) and this was by far the toughest the conditions have been. I suspect looooads of runners cashed out.

The wind was wild this year along with a much tougher route for the 100k and a brutal route for the miler. Winning time for the 100k was nearly an hour slower than last year despite a much more competitive field. The 1st night of the miler broke many a runner, temperatures were around 2c at Maclears with windchill. I saw quote a few guys started out really fast and paid the price, mates who started slowly made up huge time and places from Kalk Bay onwards on the much more runable sections

Aah, The brutality of trail running in the elements. Why we love the sport. Sure its heartbreaking to DNF, but sometimes the trail wins. Kudos to all who started, and those that finished.

That was me running in the hood(crossing the river Nile from burst pipes etc) so still trying to figure out a nice route that is 5ks. I have also joined myrun which is down the road and will hopefully do it this weekend for the first time.
