Out of curiosity what does Garmin connect say for your race predictors.

I have been out of running for a bit too due to being sick, but I still feel good when running and don't feel like I have lost that much progress. I want to up my mileage though. Wondering if every week I should add around 5km distance I want to get to 60km per week as I feel that should be a good baseline practicing for my Marathon I am doing end of the year. Either the Cape town one or Jacaranda one, still deciding.

Also you guys need to stop talking about shoes, you are making me want to buy more and I already have enough pairs, except for speed session still need a nice pair for those.

Also here is my 5km PB I think on 5km I did 24:40

On a side tangent, is this normal speeds I have for personal bests

Or can I potentially push harder in one area due to time in another. Not sure how speed slows down with the distance

Race predictions:
5K - 22:50
10K - 47:55
Half - 1:46:52
Marathon - 3:59:42

Not sure how accurate it is. Haven't tried in the longer distances and since I don't actually race it's a bit of a moot point.

You should buy a pair of puma deviates or Adidas bostons while its still on sale.

My garmin predictions are wild. The other day it predicted a 14:05 5km time. I guess my watch believes more in my than I believe in myself🤣

Did you check the route it suggested? Last 2 km might be down a mine shaft.

R500 off the hauwei fit 4 or fit 4 pro if you use coupon code 'AFIT500'

Tested and workingScreenshot_20250619_154121_Facebook.jpg

Bought wife the purple one.

I'm still deciding between the fit 4 pro and the watch 5. The watch 5 costs 10k though.

I don't see the Deviate Nitros on sale. I see the Bostons are 2k would you say there are on par with the deviates? Cause I do have a few pair of running shoes now and the deviates look nice so might wait until they are on a nice special again.

So when are you going for that 14 min 5km time? :)

Nice, I don't believe mine at all

I think I might die if I run these speeds

I think for mine the 5K and 10K could be within reach with max effort. The half and marathon seem highly optimistic.

Had a threshold session planned for today, but got home from work with a huge headache and now I'm shivering. Hope the flu isn't back for round 2.

Needless to say, no run for me.

The boston's are pretty much the same as the deviates. 2k is still a good price for the bostons.
The last time I trained specifically for the 5k with a goal of sub 14min in mind on a 200m indoor track, I ended up with a dnf and herniated disc. That was 5 and a half years ago. I just haven't been myself since and I've gradually started losing speed when I hit my 30s.

What to do about pain in the lower half of my calves? Just keep going and harden up?

10 x calf raises daily. Even if its sore to the point you feel like crying, just keep doing them. avoid hills at all cost and land more towards the heel if you can for now.
